They had GM V8's didnt they came out of a buick if i remember correctly. Just given some british tuning. Hence why there were actually good and didnt produce around 180bhp from stupid size engines.

It was commonly known as the Rover V8.

Buick developed a peach of an engine but didnt want to spend lots of money developing it.

Rover bought the manufacturing rights and developed the engine into what is now known as the Rover V8.

And it has been everything from a 3.5 litre, right upto a 4.6litre, fitted to luxery barges, off roaders, sports cars.

Brilliant engine, larga capacity, light weight and endlessly tunable.

Yeah knew it was a rover unit same engine was in the marcos mantis which is another amazing looking car. We deffiantely build the oddest and coolest sportscars in england i find.

Is the 5.0 the same thing though or a different block? I know they started making there own blocks at TVR at some point just cant remember if they have a V8 or was just the Inline 6.

I know the more modern V8's rover used were ford sourced like the MG ZT that had the 4.6 modular block from a Mustang just detuned.

5litre is the bored 3.5 still the Rover V8.

The TVR V8 is the AJP 4.2 and 4.5 both of them are incredibly unreliable too, spotting a pattern yet?!

Should have stuck with the Rover lump, sorted the electrics and screwed the cars together properly and they would sell a bit better.
