myke Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 My 04 Multispace with 26000 on the clock has had brake squeak since I got it 7 months ago. I took the front pads out, cleaned everything up and copper slipped the back of the pads. I have just cleaned out the back brakes and removed the slight corrosion lip around the edge of the drums. The back ones are OK now but the front still squeal. I have again removed the wheels and checked the discs. They have quite a lip on the outer edge due to wear and towards the centre of the disc it is worn on a slight angle due to wear. I think I need to replace the discs and pads. Is this usual after only 26,000 miles? Any thoughts? If I take it to the local dealer they will charge me an arm and a leg to even look at them let alone do the hob. If I replace the discs, are there any aftermarket discs that are good but cost less than the colossal price Mr Citroen will undoubtedly charge me? Quote
iannez Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 the lip on the front discs will cause a squeal. can you not just remove it like you did on the rear. most dealers do a free brake check but thats just generate work and will tell you it needs disks and pads anyway. Quote
