Got 2 scratches on my passenger door. Neighbours dog jumped up on the side put some nice scratches in fairly deep can feel them with my finger. Was not very impressed but ah well not much can be done. And most people wont really notice them just i do.

And i did wash the car yesterday and warm bucket was being used to warm my hands up. 3 hours took me to wash it had to wash it and rinse it off twice then dry it. And then clean the wheels which took ages.

Was going to clay it etc today but its been chucking it down all day.

I dont have the time at the moment to clean it! :o :(

So i have ended up going to a new carwash that is 'non-scratch'. It does exactly what is says on the tin!! :P

It is really good, you get someone pressure wash the car, then it goes in the machine, gets washed, hot waxed (whilst the underbody gets sealed) the dried, then dried with cloth! Looks amazing when it is done!! :D

mind you.........it better do for £8.50!! :o :o

Have no money to do it anymore, due to the D80 purchase! :o Money well spent i say! :P

That reminds me, i took a pic with it last night over the motorway! Will get it up now.

Combining two of my passions in life! :D :D

that looks very good mate, that is one of the hardest shots to get right...to bad it is on the substandard Nikon D80 instead of the Cannon 35D...or as you are clearly a man with plenty of cash and Hassleblad H2...

oooooo, low blow!(To Nikon) :(

If i had a spare 5grand (which i dont!) i probs would not spend it on a camera, If it had to be photograhically minded, then it would be a couple 500/600mm prime lenses :o

Are you talking about the 30D or the 350D?

Posted

There is a 35D coming out but its not out yet. As far as google is telling me....

Im looking at a 400D for myself at moment when i have that kind of cash spare. But they have not been out long yet so want to leave it till they drop in price a little and internet retailers start selling them cheaper. As most you can get off right now is like £20.

The 30D is about a grand with a lens. I understand that it is being replaced but the rep from Canon hasnt been yet to show me the new stuff.

I always found that the Nikon's couldnt capture reds properly and looked a bit weird, for normal use that isnt a problem but when it comes to printing for books, magazines and such that I do Reprographics get narked as they have to compensate for colour balancing...

The trees are a bit dark, as I can't see the leaves

I worked in a professional studio when I left school, and most pics were done on 10x8 and 5x4 format and also some Hasselblad stuff. Then I got bored with the job and the crap wages as a trainee, so I found a proper job

How long did you leave the shutter open for on that pic???

Its very good by the way, the red and white are very vivid, whilst the back ground is very natural looking, a good contrast.

I assume you got a good still night, as the trees dont appear to have moved much.

Very nice !!

Have got a Sony Alpha, decided that the point and shoot is great for site work but for the other stuff it didn't cut the mustard, so now have a decent camera, and am experimenting with using it off auto.

Can anyone recommend a good 'Learn SLR photography' book ???

I have loads of books and mags at home, not all are techniques but they have all helped me loads. I now use my camera in "manual" all the time.

My favorite mag is "amateur photographer" (it is weekly) but it does not have much of the technique side of things.

The shutter was left open for 2 minutes on that particular pic.

Thats the problem with my camera.

Its a good camera (Sony DSC-R1), but the maximum time the shutter will stay open for is 30 seconds. Its a bit annoying really.

Where was that picture taken???

Posted

Above the M23 around Gatwick. I was in Three Bridges i think.

The longest shutter speed is also 30 seconds, but it has a 'bulb' setting which opens the shutter for as long as you have the shutter depressed. I used my phone to time the exposure.

I would imagine your sony would have it, but i may be wrong.

Yeah, having a look at a review, it does have the 'bulb' setting. It is available in the 'manual' mode (it has a limit of 3 minutes i think).

Your right. Id forgotten about that. I had read about it in the book when I first got it.

I suppose 3 mins is good enough.

Cant exactly do the travelling of the stars though!!!

Posted

ahhhhhh...........the old star trails, i have attempted them myself, but there was WAY too much light pollution!

The whole sky goes bright orange! :o

Just need to get out to a remote place in the middle of nowhere (literally)! hmmm...........think i will stick with the stuff i can do!

(By the way, i used exposure ranging from 5-35 minutes for the star trails).
