skaramanga Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Just wondering if many of you have the JBL option on your C4. What do you think of it, and is the head unit much different than the standard one or just the amp/speakers etc? Cheers B Quote
rcandelori Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 The main difference is a bit more output power and that it can play MP3 CDs. To be honest, the standard unit is pretty good and anecdotally, there doesn't seem to be much difference in terms of sound between it and the JBL upgrade. Quote
wozza Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 If you want a better system its worth goign after market for it even a budget cheap system will sound better. Should also be around the same price. Quote
skaramanga Posted October 25, 2006 Author Posted October 25, 2006 Got the car and it has the jbl, I am well happy with it. I don't think the standard system would be anywhere near as good. :) Quote
C4VTS Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 Got the car and it has the jbl, I am well happy with it. I don't think the standard system would be anywhere near as good. :o Just add a power amp, and a sub-woofer, and any standard C4 radio would be the same as JBL I reckon. :o Quote
wozza Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 Yup pretty much. If you change the speakers for some after market ones you would get a nicer sound again. Without breaking the bank can be done for less than £100. Quote
skaramanga Posted November 10, 2006 Author Posted November 10, 2006 I have the jbl and I love it, but it seems to cause some vibrations in the doors etc with the bass. Or is that just on mine?! Quote
c14vts Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Mine had Vibrating doors, I took it in, they fixed it with some glue, it didn't work {what a suprise} I just turn it down now and pretend i cant hear it, or up thats good too. u go deaf and cant hear anything again ;) Quote
Mike5483 Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 The problem with the doors are, that the door cards have insufficient support in the middle and they flex. The fact that they are made from different bits joined together dont help. I 'borrowed' some self adhesive sticky foam from work and double layered it all over my doors. Seems to have sorted it out for the most part, i still get rattles on cold mornings though. Quote
wozza Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Was going to put a few layers of brown bread in mine see if it helps get rid of the rattle. Local audio store is selling ti for £12 a pack so worth getting a couple to see how it goes. Quote
skaramanga Posted November 21, 2006 Author Posted November 21, 2006 To be honest, the rattles aren't too often, only if you turn it up loud. Boy will it go loud! I am actually very happy with mine, and use the mp3 playing feature. Apparently it has nine speakers and subwoofer, don't know where the nine speakers are, maybe someone's telling porkies. Quote
