JSC Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 I have a 2 month old Citroen C5 Exclusive fitted with the latest version EmyWay radio/satnav. First question is why this vehicle is not fitted with a DAB radio as vehicle is current specification with Euro 6 engine. I am awaiting a warranty response from Citroen UK on this. The main dealer has tried to fit an Alpine EziDAB unit, the one recommended on the Citroen website, but the system cannot be used due to significant interference making audio playback impossible. Anybody have any thoughts? Quote
seefive Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Hi thereI have had autodab ( the other Citroen option) in Mk3 and mk2 C5's and it works faultlessly, provided you throw away the screen mounted aerial they give you and install an external aerial. (magnetics work fine, and the lead can be discretely fed through the tailgate opening on the hatch or estate)If you have a sunroof, you should not mount the aerial close to it , as the opening/glass degrades the signal. Citroen seem reticent about fitting DAB to the C5 for some reason. UK sales of the Mk3 have been disappointing to say the least, so they probably don't want to spend money on it, who knows... Quote

seefive Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 Thinking about this again - when i tried an external screen mount aerial on my Mk3 I could not get a signal to pass through the screen at all. I think EziDab uses such an aerial? Quote
JSC Posted October 28, 2015 Author Posted October 28, 2015 I took my car to a car audio specialist and learnt the cause and reason for the problems. They refuse to use internal aerials mounted on the windscreen as it gives a poor signal and especially in a Citroen. They installed the same Alpine Ezi-DAB system as the Citroen main agents, connecting the unit into the EmyWay system auxiliary input, the same as the main agents, using an external aerial. They discovered the same interference problems as before. They carried a series of tests and found the EmyWay auxiliary to have a very low output. This would suggest a manufacturing fault with the inbuilt radio/satnav, as this has occurred in three separate Alpine units. They spilt the co axial feed and connected the Alpine unit into the FM input, and tuned one of the stations to EziDAB. Perfect reception and amazing sound quality. I took the car back to the main agents who are pleased an answer was found. They are raising the problem with Citroen, agreeing it is the Citroen radio apparently at fault. Quote
