i want to try and speed up my c4 coupe 2.0ltr 138bhp vtr+ i cant seem to find an induction kit or any other performance mods ie superchip. can anybody throw a few ideas about

I have the same model C4 as you.

When you blip the throttle, is there a raspy blowy noise coming from your exhaust from underneath the car.

Mine makes this noise from the middle of the vehicle.

It not a hole, Ive checked, but it is a very strange noise.

As for induction kits, unless you install them properly, they can lose you power due to heat soak.

I think there are some mapping possibilities.

There was a thread started on it a little while ago.

i did have a raspy noise from day 1 of having the car, after bashing the dealers head several times they found a mod buletin that the manifold 4 into 1 weld cracks as mine had, now the noise is better. i have qualifications in several mechanical jobs so i am reasonably clued up and understand the importance of correct fittings, do u have the info for remapping

Not sure what you will get out of a remap, Would guess between 10 - 15bhp at most. Induction kits theres a few good ones that are universal dont use an open filter type thoguha s you will loose power. Something like a Pipercross viper or BMC CDA would be a better option. Not sure if pipercross are still looking for cars to prototype parts for though but if they are you can get a free filter off them of your choice for letting them have your car for a couple days. Which can be upwards of £250 for there good filters.

Could possibly try new exhaust maybe someone out there does a decat for it which would free up a little power and usually lets the revs climb a bit quicker.

Otherwise if you want a lot more power it gets costly can get it up to the 200bhp mark but were talking a few grand to do it and a couple weeks worth of mods. As will be new cams, possibly throttle bodies etc. Just depends how much you want to spend.

does any one know if there is a major engine difference from the 138bhp to the 180bhp could the mapping just be adjusted to the 180bhp version

Thanks for the heads up on the exhaust. Thats very interesting.

As for the difference between 138 and 180, probably mapping, engine internals, timing etc.

It probably isnt easy.

try crossmatching the pug models to yours and they you will find the right replacement filter or indution kit. i wouldnt bother with an indution kit, unless it was the viper or bmc ones.

not sure if anyone on here has had a remap yet either

i have found out that the pug 206 gti 138 is the same engine however pipercross wont confirm if this will work on my car. I suppose this is just down fitting, not sure if the airbox is in the same place. i was told to hang on for a few months
