C4VTS Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 I would like to see a C4 on the Top Gear track to see how well it handles from a spectator point of view. Has anyone here taken their C4 on a track or would like to? Quote
wozza Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 Would like to take mine on track. But id prefer to have a bit more oomph. Stuey told us he took his out on track at the C4 meet though. Quote
Mat Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 I've driven my C4 on the TopGear test track. Unfortunately the 20mph limit and the fact i only needed to do 1/3 of a lap to get to where i was going, meant i didnt test my car out. Quote
Rich_Eason Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 At 20mph you couldnt have even put on the cruise control?! :D That MUST have been a challenge keeping it at 20mph itchy right foot and all that :P Quote
Mat Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 I didnt know where i was going, which helped. Was visiting a customer. Was told by security at the main gate to 'head for and park next to the 747'. Quote
Stuey Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 yeah i had mine out at Bruntingthorpe, it was OK. None VTS models where never designed for that kind of punishment. I was fighting understeer most of the time but when it did find a grippy patch the back wheel was cocked up nicely. It has shortend the life of the brake pads though...they now squeek quite badly and are starting to fade so it is time for a nice shiny new set of EBC greens I think not decided yet. I will drop the photographer at bruntingthorpe an email later and see if he will send me the pic of the car with it back wheel in the air. I did manage to get it to oversteer with a bit of the old scandanavian flick but that was very scary so I wont be trying that again, lift off oversteer is the way to do it the C4... Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 Speaking of track days, my instructor told me that it would be a good idea to take my car out on a track day, and i am looking for the opportunity! I would love to do it with some of my mates, but alot of them still have not passed!! :P :D I am going on a driving skills thing tomorrow which i am looking forward to, it also means that i get a voucher to drive a ferrari!! :) :D :D That is going to be awesome!!!!!!!!! :D Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 If you are looking for some track experience for not a lot of money then I can recommend the Lotus experience. For £99 you get half an hour in a 111R Elise round the Lotus test track followed by a high speed lap from the instructor and an hour and a half tour of the factory. Plus you get to drive it like you stole it and no one cares. Quote
Rich_Eason Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 Watch out for those damp corners Ciaran... What ever happened to those points being applied to your licence anyway? Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 Nothing came of it, it has been many weeks, so if there is that '2 week rule', then i should be O.K.......hopefully. The thing tomorrow is not a track day, just a skills day, skid-pan etc etc. I will do some on-road driving in my car aswell i think. The ferrari thing is not on the same day. I have found that alot of track days (especially ones driving fast cars) have a age limit, which i fall under :D A 'run what you brung' would be cool, assuming i could get over the embarrasment of having the slowest car! :) I would most likely be the best looking car though! :P Quote
Rich_Eason Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 Looking at the rules its better that you are under the age limit and not over the weight limit of 18 stones as applied to most track days! 18 stones s------q---------u--------e------------e---------z-----------e---------d in to a track all in one :D :P Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 HAHA!!!! :P :D That would be a site to behold!!!! :) Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 Oh, and by the way, If anyone is going to a track day (in a C4) down south(ish) i would be happy to take some pictures. Quote
Rich_Eason Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 I'm about 5mins from Castle Coombe but their noise regs are "tight" to say the least. My mate took his bike up there the other week and was border line pass completly standard kit, no mods. if you dont pass you only get 75% of your money back. The locals complained about the track noise after they all bought houses next to a race track. :D :P Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 Don't think there is a lower age limit on the Lotus day. Can't harm to give them a call. http://www.grouplotus.com/media/car/doc/LO...20RES%20SYS.pdf No cameras allowed though! Quote
Stuey Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 thats tempting...the tour of the factory sounds cool Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 I really enjoyed the day and will probably do it again. Best of all it's not your car so you can drive it however you like. Quote
Stuey Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 I will have to have a look for next summer... I see you go the VX home then?? Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 In danger of going off topic and someone complaining again. I don't think the C4 would be too hot on the track but saying that, you can enjoy yourself on a track in any car, just make sure you have insurance to do so. Yes got the VX home, 140miles of back and ear numbing fun. Been off work sick since and not been able to drive it. Also it is having to live outdoors as my garages are full of kitchen/bathroom as the house is being gutted. Quote
Rich_Eason Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 Who was complaining? I dont remember anything being said? Quote
Mat Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 Stop going off topic! (please). This thread is for talking about C4s on tracks, not people complaining about being off topic !! :P Quote
Rich_Eason Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 Oh please lets not turn this forum into an over regimented, highly moderated forum please....I like it just the way it is :P We all have a banter, talk random nonsense every now and more often so lets not spoil it! If we do Wozza wil be doing overtime otherwise! Quote

It is a comfortable family car...but it is not bad by any means. Obviously an Elise or other car of that genre will leave the C4 for dead but it really wasnt that bad... Bloody hell someones doing alright for himself...new car, new bathroom, new kitchen and garage with an S?? :P Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 Who gives a toss if we go off topic?!? :P Just dont look at the topic if you dont want to! It is like when old farts complain about seeing a fricking nipple on T.V. There is a remote control in your hand................USE IT!!!!! See....off topic again, but it is very easy to do, so lets just calm down, hell i find it interesting talking to other like-minded people, however off-topic the conversation gets. Quote
