captainsensible Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Who else had theirs nicked? Mine have been swiped within a week! :P Quote
C4VTS Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Just checked my car, and I still have the badges :D I probably wouldn't notice if they had gone. :P Quote
philstott1983 Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Does it leave a mark on the car when the badges are taken off? Because im a tramp and couldnt afford the VST (or VTR) i had to go for the Cool, but dont like the badge on the back of the car. How do theives of these badges get them off as well, not that im on the rob, i honestly want to take the 'Cool' badge of mine! Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Probably not that hard to get off as the badges have fallen off the back of mine. Quote
Rich_Eason Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 I cant imagine they are difficult to get off, however I can imagine getting the new ones to stay on will be a different story! Looks like the previous owner of my VTS has had someone give it a try as there is a small touch up mark just by the V and looks the same size ish of a screwdriver! Quote

Dont you just hate chav's ? :DThe badges cost no more than 2 or 3 pounds yet they still feel the urge to rob them, causing damage to your car as they do..... :P Quote

I tell thee though, at the weekend I saw a lad must have been about 18, decked out in the Burberry, Tracksuit and "Classics" looked "right propper".... I dont know why, but I had this immense urge to ask him what the hell does he look like?! I mean I aint no Fashion guru but know what to wear and not to wear...and he just looked a complete nugget. Needless to say I didnt! :D Youth of today... The only reason they steal them is so they can stick them onto their Saxo Fortes for "All show, and no go" Quote
iannez Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 i use a bodge spreader to remove them and panel wipe to remove the glue but white spirit will do. the spirit wipe will remove wax from paint so new decal will get a good hold. dont use turps or petrol as these leave an oil coating behind. another tip is get you heaters nice and hot and warm the glue on the badge in front of an air vent before putting it on. captainsensible Posted October 25, 2006 Author Posted October 25, 2006 I think that the black adhesive outline thats left behind looks better and a little more understated - I certainly won't be shelling out for replacements just to have them nicked again.... Quote
Cork-C4 Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 Hi all, some dumb chav tried nicking my logo last night, but must have dropped it cos it was under the car this morning with his tiny watch screwdriver? the logo is in good nick still but no sticky on the back! any advice on the best way of sticking it back on and holding it tight? I know this muppet will prob be back again for it, but it just dont look right as it is !!!! cheers Tony Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 Right, First of all, i reckon you need a laser alarm system that, when triggered, shoots a jet of flame homed in on the nearest chav at the time. Then you may want to 'slightly' modify the C4 so that it can actually turn into a robot and stamp on the un-educated slab of shite This is for starters only of course, you could go crazy if you wanted, but i reckon you NEED these two plans of action as a minimum deterence. Looking back on this post, i think i may have been a little soft on the chav in question, there needs to be some bollock squashing contraption, burbery destroying flame etc Quote
citroeneddie Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 I'm sure the the Dealer may help out under warranty if you ask nicely and get on well with them. You can say they haven't been stuck on properly originally and have fallen off  Quote
Mat Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 (edited) Is not the badge metal? In which case, before sticking it back on, put a layer of insulation to the back, and wire up the car battery to it. No one should be touching it (unless trying to steal it), and then they may get the message when their charred hair sticks on end. EDIT: Put a switch in, so you can wash the car Edited November 11, 2006 by Mat Quote
iannez Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 wont get much of a buz off 12v unless there licking the badge. Quote
Rich_Eason Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 If no joy with that option what about fitting a "Blaster"... http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/7566/232777car300ur3.jpg More than likely highly illegal but as the image shows, it is an ideal solution for all those pikies bending down to "half-inch" your VTS badges. You can almost smell the torched shell suit and Reebok Classics.... Quote
philstott1983 Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 MY time at uni taught me to make one project i'll never forget..... A STUN GUN!!!! a doddle of a circuit to make, knock it up on a piece of vero board using about £5 worth of parts and, although low current so no real damage can be done, a shock in the region of 20,000V will give somebody the hint. Can run that of a normal car battery, regulate it, the using a transformer get to the required voltage. Circuit like this is all over the internet and id imagine if you could understand the car's wiring system, get it to activate the device (connected to your badge, bodywork etc) when you use the key for to lock! Otherwise couldnt eprox resin (or however its spelt) be used to stick it back on, no fcuker would get that off then! Quote
Mike5483 Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Otherwise couldnt eprox resin (or however its spelt) be used to stick it back on, no fcuker would get that off then! Someone knicked the badge off the frnt of my old Rover once. They were fixed on with some sort of rivet. I Epoxy'd the replacement one on. Only problem is, badge thieves probably aren't the sharpest tools, but they use sharp tools and the damage they'ed cause before they realise it aint coming off would be bad. Quote

Perhaps not legal but then neither is tampering with/ damaging other peoples property... Quote
