Hi all, I'm new to the site but have owned a 55 plate 2.2hdi 6spd manual for 5 years.

The car has 130,000 miles on it and has now developed a grumbling noise whilst using the clutch. There is a light grumble which gets louder as I engage the clutch then quietens slightly as I fully operate it.

I believe it's the release bearing so I'm planning to get a clutch kit and replace it all.

My main question is do I change the DMF as Well? The car starts fine and has no knocking noises which are sometimes linked to DMF failure. I'm not wanting to spend a fortune unless I have to so I'm a bit resistant to the 'while your in there' idea.

Any advice would be appreciated about the DMF and the whole job too. I've read some concerning stories about subframe fixings but also that it may be possible to move the gearbox enough to leave it in.

Thanks.
