Chazchuzzlewitt Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 Hello, car is '07 C3 Petrol 1.4 'desire' with air con. Need to change the aux/serpentine/alternator belt as it's chirping away nicely, I see the tensioner has a large centre bolt, am I right in assuming I lever it with this to release tension to change the belt? Also, do I/can I dismantle anything at the side to make the change easier? I'm a classic Merc man so used to RWD/north-south engines with the belt at the front! :) Quote
Rookie2 Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 Hi Buddy, yes the big nut in the middle to ease the tension. I usually put a jack under the engines and remove the top engine mount if it's really tight in there, Jack up the engine and you get a little more room (But dont jack too much) Long time since I did a c3 and my old memmory fades a lot. kaz Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 I've just had the aux and timing belts off my 2004 1.4 petrol (w/ air con), so the following may be useful: Jacking up, removing the wheel and the wheel arch liner should give more than enough room to get the job done. Citroen had switched to automatic tensioners by 2004, so you're pivoting the tensioner with that bolt, rather than loosening the bolt. 60 degrees of motion should be ample to release the belt. Quote
Chazchuzzlewitt Posted April 12, 2017 Author Posted April 12, 2017 Thanks Kaz, I don't suppose you remember what size the bolt is- I think I read somewhere it's 15mm? Quote
