dave&trace Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 Just got our new sat nav disc from ebay Spain works a treat and has TMC which has started working in our area  Also has latest roads in our areaAlso a friend of ours has put on speed camrea locations {how cool is that?} Quote
GRUMPY Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 It should have been working when you bought the car. Quote
dave&trace Posted November 12, 2006 Author Posted November 12, 2006 TMC is only on 2006/2007 maps and the radio stations that broadcast it are only just starting when we got our new disc there was only classic FM but now Galaxy has started which is good news.We went to Euroupe in the summer and tasted TMC on 2005 mapping. The radio stations in Europe have supported TMC a lot longer than England. It`s also been encoded onto European mapping disc`s.But not on UK disc.Navteq are releasing 06/07 with TMC later in 2007. lee_marshuk Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Navteq are releasing 06/07 with TMC later in 2007. Where did you hear this from? I was told that it should be in the Citroen dealers by last quarter of this year - let me know so I can find out what's going on with this. One other thing - your TMC CD shouldn't work with Classic FM, only the Chrysalis radio stations since Classic FM broadcasts iTMC encoded TMC stuff which PSA do not have a license to use, whereas Chrysalis stations (Heart, Galaxy etc) broadcast TrafficMaster encoded TMC - are you sure about this? dave&trace Posted November 12, 2006 Author Posted November 12, 2006 when we first put new disc in a few weeks ago, when searching for TMC stations all we got was classic fm and no voice annoucements then about a week ago getting the blxxxy traffic announcements about every 2 minutes in rush hour had one today saying road closed and asked if we wanted to reroute.[galaxy] As for when TMC 2006/2007 comes out we were told by our dealer next year [when he finally understood what we wanted ] Quote
lee_marshuk Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 aaah right, that makes sense. The one bug the RT3 still has, and is unlikely to be fixed, is that if it finds a station (e.g. Classic) that transmits TMC info but it can't decode it, rather than moving on and perhaps even better adding it to a "blacklist", it keeps on trying for anywhere up to ten mins, by which time you are probably in the jam anyway! Interesting, I'll ask tomorrow because either there's been a serious delay or your dealer isn't aware of the CDs. Quote
lee_marshuk Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Just an update - have spoken to Citroen UK today ref the CDs, they rather bulshily told me that the CDs weren't out till mid-2007, until I then gave them my existing case ref which clearly states Citroen are to give me a full refund on the NaviDrive System as it was mis-sold to me if the CDs don't arrive by the end of 2006 (the date I had pre-agreed with them I was prepared to wait until as a goodwill gesture). They're getting back to me tomorrow to let me know for definite, but by the sound of the guy on the phone from Citroen I think I'll be getting my money back - sounds like they've had some problems!! GRUMPY Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I have spoken with Citroen UK a few times about this and have been given no help at all. Spoke agian last week and was told july 2007 when the discs would be out. But as I have complained before, as a goodwill gesture I would not have to pay for it. I called a dealer on sunday and asked about the Navidrive system, The very helpful salesman told me how the system would notify me of traffic jams and rerout at the touch of a button. I think I am going to get legal advice on this. Quote
lee_marshuk Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 I have had a reply from Citroen UK. They now say that they should not have advised me of a release date, since the papers have not been signed yet with Traffic Master. Well, that's a load of baloney, since if they hadn't signed the deal with TrafficMaster, there's no way Navteq could have been producing the disks, since Navteq would require the decoders, and I'm pretty sure TrafficMaster wouldn't release those until the signature was on the dotted line. I guess I'm running a bit out of steam, here, since it seems everyone at Citroen UK head office seems to have a degree in dreaming up excuses/fob off lines/anything of the sort to get customers off the phone as quickly as possible. My only 2 cents is to say, as I've already pretty much done, the deal must be in the pipeline since there are pre-production CDs about, and I know from a contact at Navteq the pre-production CDs are no longer being done so I would guess that means getting ready for main production. Case of hanging on, I guess. Now I know a few people on this forum are, like me, totally unhappy about being mis-sold the NaviDrive RT3 unit as being capable of TMC dynamic traffic re-routing when it clearly isn't licensed (yet) to do so. Perhaps, if anyone is interested in taking this further (i.e. to a legal level) as I am, they would PM me and we could make a collaborative effort? They might stand back and take some notice if a few of us complain, hey? Quote
C4VTS Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 I have seen lots of Navidrive RT3 2007 discs on Ebay. I guess they are all copies. Quote
dave&trace Posted November 17, 2006 Author Posted November 17, 2006 our disc off ebay works fine and picks up tmc worth getting we think!Don`t understand why Citroen cannot sort this out. Quote
lee_marshuk Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 The CDs off eBay are pre-production ones - they don't have the completely up to date mapping and are, in the main, copies - one thing to beware is that a lot of the pre-production ones have a fault with the index files, and it can take 5 - 10 minutes to put in your destination.
