Mike5483 Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o88/mprelf/DSC00591a.jpg What do ya think??? Its a great car, really nice to drive. The ride is a bit harsher then the C4, but its not uncomfortable. The steering seems more direct, and it doesn't roll as much as the C4. The interior is very futuristic, but I didnt feel as immediately ikn touch with it as I did when i first sat in my car, it'll certainly take some getting used to. Its got 13000 miles on it and feels really soild. The 1.8 i-VTEC engine is a little sluggish at low revs, but show it some clear road and a big boot and it dont half shift, sounds pretty good to. And, its got more power then my car, 142BHP versus my 138BHP. BOO!!! Quote
Rich_Eason Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Tried one as a hire car the other day...couldnt get over how "compact" it was all inside...polite way I guess of saying small. Loved the blue glowing central dial and piano finish dash - perhaps wont stand the test of time with scratches. Hated the mixtures of shapes on the dash e.g. triangle vents/ round vents also felt a bit claustraphobic in it all around you. Took a bit of winding up to get it going.... Overall impressions....glad I got the C4 Although the shots of the Type R look nice.. Quote
Mike5483 Posted November 14, 2006 Author Posted November 14, 2006 I didnt have too many problems regarding the size of the interior. I'd say that the way the windscreen in the C4 sits right forward, plus the way the controls are all built around the driver makes the Civic feel smaller. Personally, I think room in the back is better, although I dont sit in the back of my car so I'm not bothered!!! My brothers one has the image pack (read- styling kit) and ambient lighting pack, (blue lights in the footwells)which are nice little touches. Two things I didnt like... the rear vision is crap. The rear window is the same design as the C4, but the joining strip is much larger and the windows much smaller. The 2nd thing is the gear stick, a nice shift but a plasticky feeling stick. The design is very, shall we say, eclectic!!! Also, some of the interior plastics are a little cheap. Quote
Rich_Eason Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Yes agree with the vision about the only thing you can clearly see is what the weather is doing. I think one thing that really makes these cars is the colour they are. Black looks good I had that steel grey silver and just looked dull and the shitest wheel trims you've ever seen in your life... wozza Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Not a fan of the design of them the interior is nice. But being typical of the vtec engines they do need to be worked. However that can be altered by moving the Vtec point lower down. Well build handle well but id still look at other hatches first before the civic. Wait and see what the Type R's will be like. Think if i was wanting a hot hatch now id be waiting for the Focus RS but i dont like the new focus it looks boring. Quote
Mike5483 Posted November 14, 2006 Author Posted November 14, 2006 I dont know what other hatches I'd look at. Golf - BoringFocus - YawnAstra - Awful InteriorPeugeot - 207... RU Jokin!!!Renault (Rubbish) - I like my car on the road thanks. I like the new LEon, but the interior is black, black and more black. The Civic is great. Unfortunately, we dont all have enough of the green to go around looking at hot hatches, especially brand new ones!!! Quote
wozza Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Why im looking at going American next instead i mean for what you pay for a golf GTI you can get a New Mustang or an older Corvette I know which id rather have. And it isn't the Golf. But nothing wrong with the newer Renaults. The New Clio handles very very well. And the new Megane is fast and handles very well too not built too badly either. And after a remap there not too shy of 300bhp. Just never been a fan of the last 2 model civics. Last one looked like a van the new one i just hate the lights at the front and back. But the new Leon is cool, want to see what the new grande punto abarth will be like as well. Would not say no to an Alfa 147 either. Quote
ham's c4vts Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 My Mates ordered a leon FR 1.9tdi 180 bhp? and it come s in a few weeks ill post pics when it arrives Quote
DJVile Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 The only thing about the leon that i dont like is the interior. More specifically, the dash. Its like marmite. You either love it or hate it. And personally i hate it. I did look at a leon but i just wasnt happy about sitting in front of that dash. Its wierd!!! As for the punto Arbarth. Bring it on, That will be one goooood car! Quote
hertsnminds Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 If you are looking for a used Honda why not get something like this... HONDA NSX 3.0 V6, 48,000 miles, REDOBC, CC,2drs, Manual, Coupe, Petrol, Red, F/Fogs, FSH, Leather seats, Left hand drive collectors item excellent example!. £15,500. p/x considered. Only group 20 for insurance! I owned a Civic VTi a few years back, very harsh ride and like all Honda VTEC's it has 2 power settings normal and crazy. Anything below 6,000 revs was normal and then all the way to the red line at 8,000 it sounded like a motor bike. IanBlack 55 VTR+ Quote
Stuey Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 The new Leon FR is high on my next car list...will have to have to touring car bodykit on it though. Quote
Mainframe Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 i love the european civic, but we dont get them here we get the cheap asian version that looks like crudd  i really love those Quote
Mat Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 Has some clever photoshopping been going on? (I apologise for the use of 'photoshop' as a verb) Quote
Rich_Eason Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 How do you mean Ciaran? Do you think its a cut and paste job or something? Quote
Mike5483 Posted November 16, 2006 Author Posted November 16, 2006 Yes. The picture is genuine enough, but the picture was taken whilst on the test drive and there were some stickers etc on the windscreen. Also, behind my car was parked a crappy old KA, so that went, rather badly I'm afraid. Finally, I live outside a school and infront of where the Civic was stopped is some railings, so i got rid. I only had MS PhotoDraw, so editing facilities are a bit limited. Quote
Rich_Eason Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 tis better than any effort I could do... Quote
