New Citroen Owner Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 I have just bought a Citroen C4 on a 55 Plate 1.4 Petrol!!! I have noticed that when it rains water is getting in the spare wheel Sump!!! The carpet in the boot is bone dry!!! Before I take it to a garage and let them look at it and tell me the problem I thought I would ask on this site to see if anyone else has had this problem!!! Or knows about it!!! Your help would be appreciated. Thank YouAlun Quote
Stuey Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 thats pretty random mate...have you had your hear underneath and look for corrosion?? It really shouldnt be that already, or may be a shoddy weld underneath that is letting a of water in. Oh and welcome aboard!! Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Welcome, think someone had the same thing happen. When i looked at the topic of the post i thought that it was an old post. So either it was from a past life ( ), i have been dreaming about it (I am not THAT sad!!! :D ), or someone had the same problem......, i hope it is the last one! :P :( Quote
New Citroen Owner Posted November 21, 2006 Author Posted November 21, 2006 I have been told that it is coming in from the wheel arch!!! And that it is a gromit missing/lose!!!!! Quote
c14vts Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 Welcome............ Water in the boot sounds like u could add some shampoo to that and wash your car without the aid of a bucket and it will b as clean as mine {and underneath : SEE PHOTO BELOW:} ;) Quote
New Citroen Owner Posted November 22, 2006 Author Posted November 22, 2006 I took my car into the garage and they have told me that it is due to a fault with a air flap in the boot that isn't closing proberly!!!!!!! Has anyone else been told this!?!?!? I just want to make sure that they aren't trying to bull sh#t me!!! Quote
Rich_Eason Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 air flap in the boot    What the hell is one of those? I'd imagine the gromit issue sounds more like reality and that the mechanic has put some "spin" on the issue to make it sound more important than a loose gromit. It all sorted now? Quote
New Citroen Owner Posted November 22, 2006 Author Posted November 22, 2006 Should get the car back tonight!!! Or the weekednd!!! I will be testing it by spraying the arch with LOADS of water when I get it back!!! Quote
Stuey Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 when my car was at the body shop having a new back end the air flap was causing problems. Apparantly it opens and closes when you shut the doors, its some sort of pressure release I believe... Quote
New Citroen Owner Posted November 27, 2006 Author Posted November 27, 2006 Well I got my car back on Saturday!!! And every time the heavy rain stopped I went out to check for a swimming pool in the sump. And fingers crossed it is sorted now. Quote
Welshguy Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 I hope the problem is solved for you now m8. I had this problem once, although it was self-inflicted - the girlfriend left her window open overnight, which happened be the night we had torrential rain...I had a pool in my rear footwell in the morning! It took 3 days to dry out completely!!! Quote
ham's c4vts Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Welcome to the forum  hope your problem is now sorted Quote
