welshys90 Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 well done, im nowhere near it, my dad had the car for two years before i had it and its just over 10,000 on it, shows how much it was driven it was like 9,000 miles when i got it Quote
ham's c4vts Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 congratulations Z3M :o :o can you give us a list of whats worn eg tyres etc. ta Quote
lee_marshuk Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 wait...you have 3 notches gone on your tank, and yet 472 miles left on the clock?? *scratches head* i need to drive more sedately me thinks :o (again, getting in before Stuey twisty twist twists the knife :o ) Quote
wozza Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 For some of us it doesn't even go over 400 for a full tank :o Quote
C4VTS Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 Must have been tricky driving at 35mph as well as taking the photo and watching the road...or was the car written off after that shot? :o :o Quote
c14vts Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 most i ever got in my tank it also read about 400........... did about 280.......... filled it again then read 320............. gets lower every time i fill it gonna buy a push bike me thinks :o and look at u with the speed limiter on but inactive............ bet u use it too, u girl.......... mine reads 141mph all the time ........................ now i know y i aint never got no fuel :o :P who has the lowest milage then.............. 9100 on mine 18 months old Quote
welshys90 Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 when i fill up i reset my trip and after a full tank of diesel i get about 600-700 miles on my trip Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted November 22, 2006 Author Posted November 22, 2006 When I refill the tank the trip shows over 700 miles and I regularly actually return over 600 to a tank. Bearing in mind this is a company car so it gets driven pretty hard too! Yes the cruise is set to a girly 31mph, I use it on a residential road which has loads of speed cameras. Strangely I rolled over the 50k while on the M11 approaching the North Circular this morning and was approaching a big tail back hence the low speed(you can see a brake light of a car infront just above the speedo if you look carefully), and the fact that I didnt think I ought to post a photo showing the speed I had been travelling at. Pretty good at multi-tasking and managed to take the photo on my phone whilst not crashing :o In response to what is worn; had new front tyres at 35k and a rear when a stanley blade went through it. Had new discs and pads and calipers about 30k and they probably need replacing again as I am getting a nasty squeal which changes to a groan. Otherwise I have had a new headlight and grille as I hit a pheasant and 7, yes 7, windscreens as they kept mysteriously cracking. The present screen has lasted 4 months though which is a record. Quote
lab44 Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 After a full tank mine usually reads 422. Though I have had it showing 350 before after travelling 160 odd miles (was on a long motorway trip and the trip computer was showing 43mpg). I reckon about £40 of petrol gets me somewhere around 370 miles normally. Trip computer usually reads about 37mpg. Done nearly 12,000 in mine now (7 months old) Quote
wozza Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 I use my speed limiter as sometimes your attention just wonders and when im not sure where i am going i use it to make sure im not speeding. Cant afford any points on my license not if i want to upgrade the car. Plus im still on 2yr probation period for another 2 months. Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted November 22, 2006 Author Posted November 22, 2006 Rarely use the limiter, usually on the M1 down from Dunstable where they have SPECS cameras through the roadworks. I get 700miles to my 55quids worth of diesel. Quote
welshys90 Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 i've got a 1.6 vtr+ hdi 110bhp, if you drive it at 56mph you get a good mpg really good because if im not for drivin idiotically on the motorway i set it at 56 because it gets me best mpg can't remember what the mpg is although, £40 quid of diesel gets me a full tank which is generally 600-700 miles but then thats because i get my dad to fill it up at his works company pump and that generally does me the full month i only use the limiter in the first 2 months of having the car to get used to the speed of its acceleration etc compared to the learner car, i use the cruise control tho Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted November 22, 2006 Author Posted November 22, 2006 Mine is an SX 92hdi. How come I can get 55quid in mine? I drive 85 on the motorway and still return an average of 50mpg. Quote
welshys90 Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 because its a company pump, they dont have to pay vat etc on it so a full tank is cheaper Quote
C4VTS Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 I set my speed limiter to 95 on motorways, as anything from 79 to 95 will get you a fixed penalty 3 points and £60 fine, so I may as well get value for money :o 96 and over is a court appearance job and serious cash and points fine. Guess what, my current 3 points was for 95 in a 70 :o (Not in the C4) I think the government are changing the rules sometime next year though. Quote
welshys90 Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 i think they should put it up the first time i was on the motorway everything was flyin past me and i was doin 70mph and bein my dads old car i got the typical come on pull out put your foot down! come on! but i was a good boy and stayed at 70 :o Quote
c14vts Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 actually mines really good on fuel i just wash it and not move it, fuel lasts forever that way ,have my van for work that does the miles, not my car ,that is pleassssssuure only thank god :o :o Quote
welshys90 Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 my cars pleasure only hence why ive had it for 2 and a half years and theres only 10,000 miles on it, one of my m8s granddad has a old bmw that has 17k and its from the 60's god only knows how he managed that Quote
C4VTS Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 I wouldn't buy a car just for pleasure in the UK. Not many places you can drive and enjoy it without worry of speeding fines. Not unless you are a sunday afternoon driver that never breaks the speed limits. :o Quote
welshys90 Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 we'll at 17 theres not much else i can use my car for, and im far from a sunday afternoon driver on occasions Quote
C4VTS Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 we'll at 17 theres not much else i can use my car for, But you don't just drive in circles ? You must sometimes go from A to B even if it's just to the shops? Quote
welshys90 Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 aye but i wouldnt see it as buisness, i see it a pleasure to be able to drive after 8 years of jumpin on and off buses and trains a car is a real pleasure to have Quote
wozza Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 My car is something i have for pleasure as well as something i will drive everyday. Why when i get the mustang or whatever it is im gonna get either stang or vette it will be driven daily. I only do around 10k a year so not a massive amount of mileage so petrol costs are not too high. Quote
lee_marshuk Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 Mine varies considerably, but ignoring anomalies most of my driving is motorway, and 85 in mine on the motorway will return 40-43 mpg, yet 70 will return 60+ mpg. So I guess all things told I average about 35-38 mpg, after you take in roadworks, town driving when I reach the client etc etc......still not bad when I drive the car to enjoy it as well as get me from A-B.... And talking of pleasure driving, there are still a good number of places you can drive pleasurably in the UK, take the Lake District, or Scotland, or some parts of Wales - its all about finding them though!!
