Retrofitting Navidrive Screen

Just been looking at the Planet Citroen website and some threads

about Plugging a PS2 into the NaviDrive Screen..

 

How difficult do you reckon it would be to retrofit on of these units?

I assume the Car would need to be programmed into recognising

the addition of the unit, but would that be the hardest thing?

 

Might see if I can source a second hand unit

In what sense...for the unit, or because fitting would cost?

 

There is the occasional crash damaged VTS on ebay, could be an opportunity for a cheap unit?

I'd imagine dificult enough and would imagine be more than just fitting a screen with a different dash panel.

 

Finding one (that works after crash) might be the biggest problem...not all VTS have them fitted for a start.

Its more than just a screen, Got different headunit, microphone, buttons on steering wheel, be an extra GPS antenna more than likely as well.

I'm assuming the unit is controlled through the HU?

This would of course be a problem, but could the screen be wired permantely to an external source (I.E Playstation?)

Would love to have gotten the Navidrive with the car, but was a bit too expensive :(

if you have the RD4 fitted and want to put the RT3 you would need

RT3 HEAD UNIT

RT3 TFT SCREEN

GPS / TELEPHONE/RADIO ANTENNA

MICROPHONE

and on CAN cars the dual tuner radio antenna built into drivers rear window but the worst bit is the wiring loom, It Is different .

Also if your getting one from a right off car citroen/ peugeot /fiat you need to make sure it`s the later CAN bus and not Van bus

Also the TFt screen only works for video/ play station when you are not moving :( and so far on can cars there is no solution!]

Problem is as well, the Magneti Marelli RT3 unit ("NaviDrive") is end of life, so probably not much point in spending the money purchasing it now really!

I've seen the thread on here with the pictures of the antenna built into the drivers rear window - I dont have that on my C4, so I'm assuming I have the VAN Bus model...is this going to cause me problems?

I think you need to fit the back window is what was meant.

 

It would likely cost you more to get the original parts than put together a small pc with a screen. Least then you can get a touch screen in there as well as voice control and the software updates are easier just use tom tom which can be gotten for free in certain places.
