Hi, can anyone give me some advice why my air bag light is on constantly? I have had the car for 2 years without any problems until a couple weeks ago when i put it in for a service and a mot [which it failed] and all of a sudden my air bag light has develoved a problem, but thats not the only problem its a sensordrive model and on 3 occassions when i 'm about to move forward in 1st gear the engine revs as if it has jumped out of gear, as anyone got any suggestions as to why this as occurred.

No idea why the Airbag light is on. It might need to be reset.

Your Sensodrive gear box might need a software upgrade. Mine revs like that now and again. You can be at a junction in 1st go to pull away it revs a little then it goes.

I tend to do now when parked outside the house when I pull away I pull away in 2nd. you need to turn auto mode off to do it though.

I know it's probably a bit late now but could the airbag light be on because the passenger's side airbag has been turned off? (key-switch around the corner from the driver's side air vent with the door open)

Diagnostics should tell where the fault is. Mine suspected the COMM 2000 unit (the plastic tank unit that holds the indicators etc under the steering wheel airbag). That didn't fix it. Then it turned out that the wire loom under the seat had a problem because it was loose. Someone had managed to snap off all the clips! Moving that to a bit more secure position has fixed the airbag issue for now. By the way, MOT doesnot require air bag to be functional!
