cyberandy Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 Hi all I am the proud owner of a black 1.6hdi vtr+ coupe  I picked it up on the 5th oct and already covered 2400 miles. although I am very happy with the car there are three things that are freaking me out. 1/ wind noise from the doors (which after replacing all the door seals is still the same and in citroens hands) :o 2/ door fitment against front wings (looking down the car from back to front the wing protrudes out about 3-4 mm (told citroen dealer and his reply was "we needed to adjust the door in to try and eliminate wind noise") :D 3/ the wipers are set up for left hand drive, leaving an arched line on the drivers side.(the picasso is set up right why not the c4) :( So far I don't think a lot of my local dealer (probably because i bought the car on line and expect them to sort out the warrenty work) Has anyone else had any of these problems? Mike5483 Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 Cant say much about the door issue. Just have to keep pestering the dealer til they get it right. You cant do anything about the wipers. Just have to get used to it. I dont find it that bad to be honest, but I may be just used to it now, but I cant say they ever really bothered me. Quote
C4VTS Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 I don't get any wind noise from the doors, and in fact find the car very quiet at motorway speeds. Are you sure the windows are shut properly? My passenger door sticks out slightly at the bottom but not where it meets the front wing. Never had a problem with arched lines or any other lines from the wipers. In fact the wipers are great except when they sometimes go a bit mad when it is hardly raining and stopped at lights. Quote
cyberandy Posted December 2, 2006 Author Posted December 2, 2006 You hear the wind noise from 25mph. took it to dealer. they replaced all the door seals and the external plastic strips on the edge of the windscreen they agree that it is still the same. they have now referred it to citroen uk because they have another car with the same problem ! Quote
CoolCarbon Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 No wind noise but have noticed the passenger door on mine not quite in line at the bottom leading edge....not bothered right now as I'm waiting for a replacement car....which is late... Quote
Mat Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 snip..3/ the wipers are set up for left hand drive, leaving an arched line on the drivers side.(the picasso is set up right why not the c4)... I agree entirely. Its really annoying. Quote
Rich_Eason Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 It is a bit anoying but you get used to it. Not noticed the wind noise however as a previous poster has mentioned check that the window is seating correctly in the window seal. There are some members who experience problems with the anti pinch function...me included. This doesnt always completly shut the window..... Hope you are enjoyin gou new C4 by the way! Quote
ham's c4vts Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 I don't get any wind noise from the doors, and in fact find the car very quiet at motorway speeds. Dont forget the VTS has Acoustic side windows over lower spec models, so it hardly has any wind noise.and Welcome to the forum cyberandy  Quote
wozza Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 to be honest mine has very little windnoise sitting at 80mph on motorway and its near enough silent. then again i would not hear wind noise anyway musics usually so loud my hair is moving with the bass. Quote
lab44 Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 You sure the wind noise is coming from the doors and not the windmirrors - mine make a noise but then so do most cars I have been in. I know what you mean about the wipers - apparently there is nothing you can do about it. Drove a 207 GT the other day and that had the same problem with the wipers. My doors do not allign perfectly either (mines slightly out at the bottom). Apparently not a lot can do about it though. Quote
ham's c4vts Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 are you sure its not down to what youve eaten? beans, curry, veggie food? ;) Quote
cyberandy Posted December 4, 2006 Author Posted December 4, 2006 update on car problems. i called into my local citroen dealer today and had a word with the service manager.he had a good look at my car and agreed that the panel fitment on the bonnet and wings is ***oops*** ! he wants to take photo's and e-mail to citroen. he said to sort it out he will need it for a week i think i baught a friday afternoon car  Quote
Rich_Eason Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 i think i baught a friday afternoon car :P No you didnt...you bought a good car with a wonky bonet and a bit of wind thats all. :D Its all easily fixable, just need to find the cause. Quote

Rich_Eason Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Perhaps... but then you think how many units are going through the production line one or two things are invariably going to get through un-noticed and will only show their faces when the end user gets a chance to use it. :P as an example, I assume that one in every 30 units is goes through a rigerous check and if that one is ok the assumption that the other 29 are ok too. Otherwise checking each car will take forever and the cost of vehicle will go up, afterall you are paying for a proportion of labour as well as material to make the car. A Jag perhaps would have every 10 checked and Aston every individual unit... :P I agree QC checks at the dealers are perhaps a little lacking as the VTS had a number of faults that it had to go back with that were so say "checked" but were glaringly obvious if someone had checked it, slack? or was it really checked? :D These faults are all fixable and will not cause detrimental damage to the car. My old Focus had component failure left right and centre and left me stranded a number of times... that is what I would call a Friday car! Quote
cyberandy Posted December 5, 2006 Author Posted December 5, 2006 I've been to the mullhouse plant where the c4 is built. it is huge. it has its own motorway into it. and i know at the time i was there they were taking 3000 trw drum brakes a day and they were recieving loads from bosch. they supply transport for the workforce. i was there during a shift change and we counted a convoy of no less than 30 coaches and that was just the chassis plant. I was impressed with their quality control BUT They dont think very much of us on this side of the tunnel MMMMMMMM 2 AN 2 = ? i go on a bit don't I ? ;) Quote
Welshguy Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 they were recieving loads from bosch I know somebody who was "released" from bosch recently - they were given pens to mark various car parts they were producing - it was a procedure to remind yourself that you'd installed various parts to the overall part you were producing. Volvo went happy when they received their shipment of parts and found smilie faces, spider webs etc drawn over them !!! ;) Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 ..... they were taking 3000 trw drum brakes a day and they were recieving loads from bosch. Was this a while ago that you were there? C4s have discs all round don't they? Quote
stratos Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Back on topic, There is an official fix for wind noise in C4 - I saw the multi-page work instruction yesterday. It involves replacing many little bits and peices, trim, seals etc. Dealers have ordered bits and is being done under warranty next week, same time as the disconected headlight washer pipe which also seems a common problem. Thumbs up for dealers, said I thought wind noise was getting worse, but still not really noisy, no argument, said they had a fix. Quote
cyberandy Posted December 8, 2006 Author Posted December 8, 2006 the dealer had mine for two days.they down loaded that work sheet and replaced all the seals and parts mentioned on it. still the same. I hope yours goes o.k. I have to take mine back on monday for a photo shoot. so i will dig the pollish out on sunday Quote
Rich_Eason Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 I have to take mine back on monday for a photo shoot. so i will dig the pollish out on sunday Good luck...the weather looks rubbish again. :( Volvo went happy when they received their shipment of parts and found smilie faces, spider webs etc drawn over them !!! Ah yes...reminds me of the time Halfords tried selling disposable cameras. Me and some mates managed to get one working without damaging the packaging and took pictures of us all Mooning making sure our faces were obscured. We then replaced the camera on the shelf. It was purchased at some point in time... so somewhere out there someone has 5 pics of 5 Halfords employees arses. <_< Quote
