:P Got my now two week old Pluriel back from the garage (I have had it one week, they have had it one week). Told not to put it through a car wash or use a power hose. Unfortunately for myself and the garage it rained and yes, guess what its leaking again. Left down to garage again and told it will be another week before they think they can fix it. Perhaps I should ask for a discount for a time share arrangement. I now strongly believe I have been sold an old model, as opposed to the supposedly new "improved" model which will not leak (aye, rite). Things that make me believe this is an old model are :- (a) it leaks, (B) they are going to replace the base of both front seats (a recall in over 2500 of the old cars), © a seat belt warning doesnt come on when the ignition is turned on (d) the garage was going to replace the roof arch today but then found the one they had in stock didnt fit. Can any one confirm my suspisions. I am currently waiting for the department of vechicle licensing to confirm if my car came of the production line later than May 2004 when these modifications were made. Does anybody on this site think they made a wise buy?

Lesley,
at the risk of really pi$$ing you off, not all Pluriel leak. I have a fairly early one which has survived having the arches on and off several times, and does not leak, even in particularly heavy downpours, both static and on the move.

That is not to say that I have not had my niggles with the car, been frustraited by the design features and had my (un)fair share of shitroen customer service both from Slough and my dealer.

As I mentioned once before (now lost to the great gods of the servers) it is a great car let down by a second rate service, and if people at the dealers/manufacturers could get things sorted it would sell a whole lot better.

Try and make it along to one of out get togethers and you will be able to compare the seals, and hopefully pick up some tips on the car/roof. I do hope you get this sorted soon.

HTH,

This is what the old seals look like

and this is what the new seals look like

The 2 main visible differences are a longer flap on the rubber on the windscreen
The locating lug is now plastic instead of metal in the roof arch seal.

These new seals do NOT fix the leaking

If you are not happy reject the car NOW.
Take all the keys you have back to the dealer and write them a letter telling them you are rejecting the car as of the date you give the keys back, tell them in the letter why the car is not acceptable to you and that you want a full refund. Also tell them you are not prepared to let them "try" and fix things again as they have already failed to fix the problem.

Hope you get things sorted

Agreed - I think ours was one of the first batch of 1.4s in the country and it's never leaked.

Ours has the seatbelt warning working properly, but the point about the front seat bases is interesting. I do have a problem with the seats not locking properly unless you slam them all the way back, then move forwards from there (which obviously isn't great for the people sitting in the back :P ).

It's a shame but ITV have removed the video of Les W being locked in and waggling seat backs, it used to be here
http://www2.itv.com/westcountry/news/full_...WS+-+News+Story

In terms of non leaky Pluriel, having seen the way the arches locate on Mavericks's car compared to my leaky one, the arches sit very tight against the windscreen so you can not see any of the rubber seal between arch and screen.

So the answer to leaky or otherwise maybe in the location of the lug that the front arch clip locates into. a mm or so further forward means that a tighter and waterproof seal is made when the clip is done up as opposed to some of the seal being visible and leaving a gap for water to get into.

It is a pity they removed my claim to fame!
I'll see if I can get it re-instated as Yeomans, Exeter still haven't resolved the problems (awaiting parts!!!!)
It did however speed up the new software so the car hasn't locked me in since (the mechanic told me that the problem was in C3s and C5s as well as pluriels)
With the recent rain my roof leaked, it didn't before. I haven't been able to remove the roof (dealer awaiting parts.....), and I supposedly had the seals replaced. It is dripping at the join with the front section to the roof bars and I notice the newer cars have an extra lip there.
Had Citroen replaced the car when I requested a replacement in November, 2 days after I bought it, they would have saved themselves thousands of pounds in repairs and not had 2 newspaper articles, top news item on Westcountry news, articles on top gear and honest john's websites etc............

In their efforts to make my car watertight it seems the garage have raised the height of the windows too much. The effect of this is to pull the rubber away from the winscreen pillar where the top of the door glass meets the car.

It seems all 3 glass panels in the side of the car (rear window, front window and the glass the wing mirror sits in) can be height adjusted.

So my car is booked on for some window adjustment next week to fix this. This height adjustment may also be the reason that fully open windows sit above the body line rather than flush.
