barns Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 The story just got on the motorway done approx 5 miles, Alarm starts bleeping red light appears on the dash flashing stating "STOP" AND THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE FLASHING LIKE MAD.. pulled over into hard shoulder popped the bonnet to check water levels etc and waited for Rac. Towed back to dealer for a possible temperature sensor failure, engine stone cold and fan running and all sorts of warning lights flashing, (citroen salesguys face a picture as we pulled up with lights flashing as hes trying to sell a second hand c4, not the best advertisment) Not what i'd expect from a 6 month old car infact it's left me well p###ed off with it, Being towed back into dealers on a 06 plate not what i expected when i bought it, But these cheap electrical sensors are a pain in the arse, I've had electrical probs on cars before but they have all got past the 2 year old mark, coupled with all the squeeks and rattles i'm not enjoying this c4 experience at the moment Quote
lab44 Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 Yes same happened to me. It an engine temperature sensor. Its a quick job at the dealers (took mine in one morning). The AA told me it was probably a sensor so I didnt need to worry so fortunately didnt have to get towed. Quote
barns Posted December 16, 2006 Author Posted December 16, 2006 The original problem was in deed a temperature sensor, which the dealers have sorted as far as the temp is now constant, but when the car is first started its rough, engine idle is irratic at best. leave it a bit and it sorts itself out, never had this before temp sensor prob.. Had a pug 207 for a couple of days while mine was being repaired, never had a pug before, i no that there basically the same company using very simular bits but the pug 207 isn't 4 me, poor ride back (ache after a few miles) just felt wrong, like a small car on the inside with chunky bits on the outside trying to make it bigger than it actually is..... 1.4 engine i asume this is what is in the c4, took an age to get up to speed but once it got to 60/70mph it wasn't too far off of the 1.6 steady 4k revs at 90mph but the pick up was shocking 0-60...... lab44 Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 I drove a 207 GT which the new petrol BMW engine in the other day. Liked the engine - would be great if they could put that in the C4. The car on the other hand, though well specced didnt ride or handle particularly well, felt quite unstable on the road and was very boring to drive. Not quite sure why it has had such good reviews. Oh and the electric window wouldnt shut with the keys - after trying a few times the saleswoman told me it "might not be connected yet" but I have a feeling it was just broken  As for the engine tempeature sensor, all these warning lights are a pain. Half the time theres not even a problem. My mates Volkswagen Bora was constantly back at the garage due to his dashboard lighting up like a christmas tree. Quote
