Esther Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 Hi Everyone I was just reversing out of my friends drive and scratched the back passenger door , it's also very slightly dented - damage is across half of the door... Any idea how much it will cost to get fixed - will a brand new door have to be fitted? wozza Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Cost me £300 for this on my C4. http://mybigspoon.com/wozza/scratch.jpg Very unlikely you will need a new door unless you seriously damaged it. Quote
iannez Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 i work them out like this. £60 paint materials per panel. about 5 hours labour to paint single panel if its edge to edge, extra 3 hours per panel if it needs blending and about 3 hours for a decent size repair. labour charge at about £25 per hour. so your looking about £260+vat so wozzas right and this post is pointless now i've worked it out. Guest CE05LDB Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 I managed to get my brothers Back door done on his last C3 for £150. Someone had but a massive dent in the the rear door. The Guy said it cost that as he had to paint the front door as well for the paint to blend in otherwise it would have been cheaper than that. The door looked like new when it was done. Quote

Mine needed to be beat out theres some unseen damage on the actual door frame where the hook went into it and caused some nice bending. But honestly cant tell there was ever a problem. Use the same bodyshop for all my stuff now. Got a little agreement with them now that i dont need to pay VAT. As my other car needed some repairs doing. Also got quotes on some other stuff i want and no one can beat them generally. Took them 2 days to do my car start to finish and i kept going and checking on them. Also did few other bits like colour coding, A and B pillars etc. Great guys do an amazing job and dont mind you turning up at midnight on a sunday to check over it as its a 24 hour place. Im actually trying to see if they will take me on as an apprentice as i want to learn how to spray and fabricate etc properly. And they do restoration work etc. Just think it would be a good skill to have. And something i would kind of enjoy doing as im sick of computers. Quote
iannez Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 dont do it mate. i worked in a bodyshop for 3 years. its ok if you dont mind breathing in bodge dust and paint fumes and cutting your hands to bits on body panels. light stuff is ok but putting back axels in big 4x4s on the floor and re-shelling is a nightmare.
