Only reason i prefer remapping...cheaper and done properly its not a generic map that will work on any car its something they do with you driving the car. So each map is custom designed for that specific engine resulting in better power etc.

I agree with wozza on this one. Remapping is the way forward. Looking to get mine done after christmas.

 

Also it doesnt affect warranty because it is not adding an additional part, unlike the chip.

I'd be careful as remapping is changing how the car came out of the factory...and may incur warranty issues

 

It may be difficult to spot but I'm sure a trained insurance assessor with brown leather patches and tweed suit could find it, especially if you have a sticker somewhere with xxxtuning on it or something...

As far as the insurance goes, yes, if the insurance assessor finds out then you could be in trouble. However, it is incredibly difficult to find out as the only way is to compare the map to one on an unaltered ECU.

 

Tecnically you are not changing any of the part of the car. You are just altering its function ( Fuel ratios, timing etc)

but I like the idea of a scoop made out of cardboard, a papercup and double sided stckytape. I have found a new project for Blue Peter!! car mods!
