Rich_Eason Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Welcome to the forum John, I would weigh up the on the screen price with what the dealer are prepared to sell you a brand new one at (inc deals), then minus depretiation. When we got ours they pushed the "deals" down our throats, but in the long term for us and the ammount we'd use the car it wasnt financially sensible. That price is on the screen for knocking down, however I would like to see that inital price lower. There are plenty of cars about in the dealer network and be tough and prepared to walk away and make it quite clear to the seller straight away. They'll want you on the forecort for as long as possible to make the sale...make sure you are there on your terms :) Good luck :P :) Quote
BigJohnD Posted December 22, 2006 Author Posted December 22, 2006 Sorry, D&T, I want a diesel, preferably less than year old. Thanks though. KP06LVV is being offered at The Car People in Ashton-u-L, which is car supermarket where generally the price is not negotiable. Autobytel are quoting £16,848 new (discounted from £19,200) for that model including the extras (leather, security…).Parkers are quoting about £10,450 Dealer forecourt price. Happy Christmas, John. Rich_Eason Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 I just looked on the Citroen website there are 16 Used C4's HDI's less than a year old prices ranging from 9,995 upwards in my area. I'd imagine if you search near to you there will be similar vehicles near to you, all from a citroen dealer and prices certainly more negotiable than those at Car Supermarkets. Use your buyer power. :) I certainly didnt pay the on screen price for ours.... Quote

The cheapest seem to be in the deepest south - Maidstone's a 600 mile round trip from here! But I'll keep looking. Happy Chrsitmas. John Quote

xt500cc Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Hey Guys The price isn't that far out for the spec in my estimate (Leather is expensive in Citroens), and remember it's only a few months old, the colour is something you either think is ok or you hate, and trying to find a diesel for a bargain price is chalenging to say the least.I paid £9,500 for the same spec (except leather) in September 2006 for an 05 plate with 24k in Black.John i would offer them just over ten grand take it or leave it. BigJohnD Posted December 24, 2006 Author Posted December 24, 2006 Hi, xt500cc. Yes, £10K would be ideal for me. I'll see if I can do something about it after Xmas. I've found this in the meantime. I do love the Wicked Red!http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/for-sale/det...5165&supplier=1 Quote
wozza Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Wicked red is a great colour im not at all biased honest. But like th rest i think £11k is a bit much. http://mybigspoon.com/wozza/IMG4.jpg Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Black is the way to go my friend! :D Again, not at all biased :( Quote
BigJohnD Posted December 24, 2006 Author Posted December 24, 2006 Black is the way to go my friend! :D I've had black cars for the last 11 years, and people think I'm a funeral service. Ditto, not at all biased :( Quote
wozza Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 having a black car when you have trees over your garden is not a good thing. It only takes an hour for it to get dirty red doesnt show it up quite so badly. Quote
welshys90 Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 like henry ford said 'you can have your car any colour as long as it's black' but then again henry ford funded the nazi party so maybe thats not such a good idea! Quote
Pondus66 Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 Must agree, black is the way to go.But I must say that it sucks to see what you pay for cars in UK.I payd 28000 pounds for my car in Norway. Quote
wozza Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 Black is only good when its clean otherwise it looks naff. I have had a black car in the past and with us having trees over the driveway. It means they are constantly covered in tree sap and just look awful. The red hides its a little better. Just remember my mate always giving me jip about washing my car constantly. Until he left his car here for 2 days. The sap was enough to make his windows have trouble going down. He understood then. And yeah heard how much you get taxed in Norway on cars, What other costs do you have though? Obviously insurance but anything else? What is fuel like out there price wise? Quote

wozza Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 Be right your jealous cause I have the 17" rims, Spoiler, etc :-P I nearly bought a black one though but the red looked good when I went to finalize my order and I changed it to red. Liked it enough I had to wait 12 weeks for one compared to the 3 weeks for a black one. Quote
