Welshguy Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Have you used the Speed Limiter as well yet? I find it very useful sometimes - for example on the way to work this morning I travel down a long straight 30mph road..and the local paper had said there would be speed camera's there from today (for a week). I find it 'hard' to keep to the limit on that road so a keep flick of the switch and no ticket for me! Quote
Stuey Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 the speed limiter is one thing I have never used yet, I tend to keep the cruise control on.. Glad to hear you are enjoying in John!! Quote
BigJohnD Posted January 22, 2007 Author Posted January 22, 2007 Have you used the Speed Limiter as well yet?Like you I find it hard to keep under the limit at times. I've not yet come to terms with the speed limiter - probably because I'v not wholly figured out how to over-ride to accelerate. I've been using the cruise control on the 40 mph section of the M56 near Runcorn which has the "average speed" cameras. Quote
Rich_Eason Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Of course with the Specs Cameras (Average Speed Cameras) you only need to change lane and they get confused   Dont forget with the Speed Limiter if you set it at 30mph go down a hill you will exceed 30mph as the limiter has no control on the engine braking or braking system... When you reach the end of the travel of the accelertor, press harder (seems wierd at first) then you will hear a 'click' which over-rides the limiter. Quote

I'll try that. PS It's a lovely car. My student son and teenage daughter say so. Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 PS It's a lovely car. My student son and teenage daughter say so. Well, my student-self (and teenage self for that matter) agrees   Quote
BigJohnD Posted January 22, 2007 Author Posted January 22, 2007 Well, my student-self (and teenage self for that matter) agrees  :lol:This is how it goes: "Hi, Dad! Can I borrow you car, Dad? It's much better than mum's.""NO!""I'll put petrol in it, Dad, honest!""Yeah, like last time? "Well, if you lend me twenty quid, I promise to put some petrol in.""No chance.""Dad - I need some clothes too, I'm going to a party. Fifty quid will cover it.""ASK YER MOTHER!""Mum said you had to lend me your car.""GET YER OWN CAR!!!""I would Dad, but you won't give me the money, and I've never be able to insure it."Aarghh!!! HELP!! Quote
wozza Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Lol sounds like what I used to be like before I got my own car. And even when I got my own car I still just used to get my dad to drive me places in it as I was unable to drive it for nearly 2 years. Bloody doctor :/ Now I try to avoid driving my mum or dads cars cause there bloody awful compared to the C4.But my mate used to bug me to let him drive it. The response was a rather kind "and you can go and fk yourself!" It was a deserved response knowing that he has had more accidents in his car that were his fault in a month than I have in my near 3 years driving. My non drinking mate is on my insurance though as its easier when we go out to take my car and let him drive us home. getting 5 people in his punto when 2 of our mates are over 6"5 is not an easy task. Im just big. Quote
BigJohnD Posted January 24, 2007 Author Posted January 24, 2007 Been a bit tardy in posting up a snap of my C4, but I managed to find the time and get the camera to work this morning. HDi 110 VTR+ 5 door Hatch. http://bigjohnd.250free.com/CitC4/CitC4_VTRplus.JPG Looks great to me!! getting 5 people in his punto when 2 of our mates are over 6"5 is not an easy task. Im just big.Tell me about it! I've just got shut of my Punto (though the 16v twin cam engine was a bit special). Quote
Rich_Eason Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Looks good...and clean ;) Once the forum gallery has been put up get it in there! Quote
BigJohnD Posted January 24, 2007 Author Posted January 24, 2007 Looks good...and clean ;) Once the forum gallery has been put up get it in there! :unsure:I paid the dealer a bit extra for GardX, some kind of polymer finish. I've used others in the past, and they do stop the paint work fading, but applying it is a labour of love. It can be hard to get off rubber and plastic. It was so cold yesterday, I didn't feel up to creating a better photo, like finding a better location and background, and a perhaps a shot of the interior (still in showroom condition!) or of the rear. But I'll definitely upload one to the Gallery given the chance. Quote
