Stuey Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Right then, please excuse me if I rant a hell of a lot during this, Wozza feel free to edit as you see fit. Finished work at dinner time on Friday which was nice of the boss. Nipped into Nottingham to get a few last minute bits and peices. All is still good. I took a shortcut on the way home down the country road I normally take in the mornings, the road was extremely slippery so I was driving nice and steady, I noticed a car in my rear view mirror, I carried on as before he then decided to overtake me on the way into a bend and bottled it halfway through his move and forced me of the road up a steep bank though a thicket and a load of small trees. Now it gets really good, the complete knobhead didnt even have the common decency to stop so I could knock his lights out! I am now car less until most probably the new year when the crash repair centre re-open. I cant see them being open next week. I do have a sneaking suspision that the car is going to be written off as all of the dints are across the crease in the side... Pictures?? I knew you would ask so here they are!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v199/LooseMoose/IMG_5030.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v199/LooseMoose/car6.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v199/LooseMoose/car5.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v199/LooseMoose/car4.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v199/LooseMoose/car3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v199/LooseMoose/car2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v199/LooseMoose/car1.jpg as you can see the wing mirror has gone pulling all the wiring out with it, breaking the circuit so the indicators dont work. The massive dint in the door is right on the handle so it doesnt open from the outside (that was from a tree, possible the saving grace of that wasnt there I would have gone over the top of the bank and most probably rolled) 4th pic down shows that you can see down into the door itself...am I p1ssed off?? you bet. ham's c4vts Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 I must say again stu, gutted for you, hope they sort it asap! Quote
Stuey Posted December 23, 2006 Author Posted December 23, 2006 cheers mate, although as I said in the post I dont think she will be coming home after this... :o Quote
Rich_Eason Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Holy Sheeite.... Stuey I'm so sorry :D Take it you got out ok no injuries? Did he make contact with you as well? I'll rant with you on this one! :o What a big steamy pile of poo :D Quote
Stuey Posted December 23, 2006 Author Posted December 23, 2006 yeah im fine all told, could have been loads worse really. im a bit stiff today. Im not sure if he hit me or not, there doesnt seem to be any marks on the drivers side but any marks could be obscured by mud and bits of tree that is all over the front of it... comedy timing of it all.... :o Quote
Mike5483 Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Sod my, i feel so bad for you, that is atrocious. Ill bet it was a young scally or something thinking he's Schumacher or something. Its funny, I still visit a Rover forum and a guy on there has just had his MGTF side swiped on a 2 lane round about. I do hope it can be sorted, but it is a lot of panel damage. I truely hope you can have some sort of merry christmas after this. Quote
toblerone Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Hey I know I don't post on this section normally but just want to say I feel for ya bud. A similar thing happened to me when I had the Xsara, I was side swiped by a shogun on a lane and ended up spinning, taking out a gate post and ending up nose down in a ditch. Insurance is little consolation especially when they drive off with total disregard (that happened with me too). I guess it happened fast, but hope you have reported it to the police as there might have been further accidents caused by that looney. Anyway hope you get your car sorted and feel better soon. Best wishesToblerone Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 :D :D :D :o :D :( :( Just after your new alloys aswell! :D Cant see it being written off to be honest, the most expensive thing in cars is usually the air bags. That sucks man!!!!!!!!!! :( Hope you can still celebrate Christmas well after that! Quote
wozza Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Not gonna edit anything think people should be allowed to vent in forums. But Ouch mate. :o Shitty timing over Christmas as well. And get the police involved if there not already and describe car / owner details to them as best as possible. Must be gutting. Pisses me off when people do a runner though obviously the driver saw what happened just makes me think what if you had rolled or something would they have carried on and did a runner knowing they could have possibly just killed someone. Some complete idiots on the road. To be honest though it looks repairable. Now all you need to do is fine the guy that did it and have a few quite words with him down a back alley with a baseball bat. Quote
dave&trace Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 gutted for you stuey hope you are ok that is typical when you have just put those smart wheels on. is it a right off? :o :D :D :D :D :D :( :( :( Quote
syrup Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Stuey, I hope they get their just dessert, probably not! It's lucky the C4 is a safe car as you could have come a cropper. Not as if there is a good time for this to happen but Xmas. Quote
Stuey Posted December 23, 2006 Author Posted December 23, 2006 cheers all! not sure if the car is a write off as it is sat on my drive waiting to be picked up. the thing that makes me think its screwed is the shere amount of panel damage right where there are joins in the bodywork, IE 3 quarter panel, I dont think even the best panel beater in the world could get that looking right again so it will be a cut out job and I have no idea how that works... It is still just about driveable but both front tyres have gone down since I took those pics yesterday afternoon so obviously dropping about 4 feet back onto the road does low profile tyres no good at all...oh and the front alloys are kippered, quite badly scratched, I hope the garage will replace them. I did report it to the police, as I have said before one of my friends is a traffic cop and he is looking for dirty silver fiestas and is going to check as many as he can out for me...its not what you know and all that :o If he does find it I will have to go around and introduce him to "hitty" the bat and German Shepherd of Biting. Ham dont mention anything anbout how soft my dog is :D Quote
lee_marshuk Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 So sorry Stuey mate, at least you are alright, that is the main thing. You never know, as unlikely as it is, the little scrote might have a conscience and decide to report it after he's sat down and thought about it. Anyway as I said, you are ok which as I'm sure everyone here agrees is what is important. It shouldn't be a write off, according to the valuation I've just done of your car it's still marketable at £7,000, and there's no way that damage is going to equate to that, so personally even in the unlikely circumstance that they do want to write it off I would present them with a valuation to show them it's worth more than that. I know it's not much consolation, but maybe the courtest car you get will be a fun experience?!? hehe, try and have a Merry Christmas anyway mate! Quote
lee_marshuk Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 If he does find it I will have to go around and introduce him to "hitty" the bat and German Shepherd of Biting. Ham dont mention anything anbout how soft my dog is PMSL!!! Hitty the bat!! I'll have to remember that one! Quote
Stuey Posted December 23, 2006 Author Posted December 23, 2006 I took the VRI out when I bought it so if I can persuade the insurance company to write it off then I will have about 12K to play with; im off to find my lump hammer...anyone know where the airbag sensors are on an 05 plate Citroen C4?? :o Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 least you still have a sense of humour :D :D When a little 'so-and-so' kicked in my car, the damage was along the crease. Every body shop we went to, bar one, said that it was not possible to work on and it needed a new panel, but they were all wrong! It was beaten out, and it now looks perfect! :D But i needed no paint, and the damage was not along the whole side! :D :o Quote
wozza Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Some bodyshops are just after scrounging as much as possible. And think it would need a bit more for Stu to lose his sense of humour. If all else fails and insurance write it off buy it back mate and stick it back on the road probably cost you under £1500 to sort it if that including new door / wing / mirror Could get it cheaper with 2nd hand parts. Wheels say £50 each to refurb can put you in touch with a guy that will sort them for you if need be Rear quarter can be sorted if there skilled enough at there job. My mums cars got some similar damage to hers although not quite covering the entire panel but goes into the rear bumper. Also her front bumper / wing is damaged. Bodyshop i use quoted her £350 for the lot. No VAT is getting charged though as im a good customer now. 3 of my cars he has had. Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Some bodyshops are just after scrounging as much as possible. Well, alot of them refused to work on it because they were not 100% confident that they could repair it to look "as good as new" Quote
Welshguy Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 Hey Stuey, Sorry I've only just seen this thread - sorry to see whats happened m8, and just after you'd put the VTS alloys on as well. I hope you get the damaged repaired asap, and the little ***oops*** gets caught. It shouldn't have to be you that suffers the insurance hit. Do you have any no claims? Quote
Stuey Posted December 28, 2006 Author Posted December 28, 2006 just a quick update...car is being picked up on Tuesday. As for the other car, a guy was nicked that night driving a silver fiesta with a dint on the side with traces of blue paint on it. its a shame that the police cant prove he was driving at the time of my smash. He is being tryed for driving woth no tax, insurance and license and assaulting a police officer. He swang at my mate who was arresting him at the time...needless to say the other driver came off worse... Quote
Mat Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 He is being tryed for driving woth no tax, insurance and license and assaulting a police officer. He'll get off with a years driving ban Quote
wozza Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 They have the ability to prove that the blue paint on his car came from your car just needs a little testing on a couple samples to prove it. Quote
Stuey Posted January 3, 2007 Author Posted January 3, 2007 scenes of crime have been and checked mine, the police are sure that it is the car but not the driver...anyway my car was picked up yesterday and I have a purple Ford Ka. This is the pont where I should be ranting about how crap it is but I simply cant which bothers me. It sounds like a hoover when you give it some and it is definatly quicker than the C4! I have spoken to the Citroen dealership and they seem to be desperate for sales at the moment as the salesman is speaking to my insurance company and the company that supplies the VRI to see how much cash I have to spend if mine is written off. 1.6 VTR+ me thinks... Quote
Stuey Posted January 8, 2007 Author Posted January 8, 2007 cars been gone a week now and the estimators cant decide whether to fix it or not. KFK could you have a check and see if the side panel for a Coupe is available to purchase and a price as this is going to be the telling factor if the car is coming home, if you dont mind obviously... Quote
Rich_Eason Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Stuey May I ask, if indeed the news was not good would you consider getting another C4? :) Just wondering as you seme to like your new KAY-AYE (Ka) friend ;)  Glad to hear things are moving along anyhow... Quote
