Maverick Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 OK, whilst not wanting to start off another leaking Pluriel topic, I thought I would start one for a list of all the minor niggles and features that our cars have. Unless you have a very early one, the CD player will forget what track it is playing if you switch off for more than about 5 minutes, meaning you will be word perfect on Track one by the end of the week, but will be fed up as you have not heard the rest of the album. There is no keyhole on the driver's door, since you do not need one. It has been put on the passengers door for safe keeping. Hopefully by now we have all got boot covers. This is a piece of plastic that covers the gap between the back of the seats and the top of the boot when the back window is stowed. The Average Speed seems to decrease over time, mine will regularly record an average speed of 4 mph. Any more for any more? Quote
hertsnminds Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004
the CD player will forget what track it is playing
This was put down to the earth lead being disconnected by Citroen dealers for "safety reasons". Those reasons being the car is not watertight and the electrics are less likely to short with the earth not connected to the radio. It would be interesting to know what happens if you get a 3rd party radio/cd fitted (by someone like Halfords) and if connecting the earth lead will invalidate the warranty.
The Average Speed seems to decrease over time, mine will regularly record an average speed of 4 mph.
Reset the averages on a regular basis (every petrol fill up or the start of a journey) then you know what distance the MPH and MPG are averaging over. It would be helpful if this was mentioned in the owners handbook. Ian Orange 03 Senso Quote
Maverick Posted August 25, 2004 Author Posted August 25, 2004 Ian, I know there are reasons for these features, but I wanted to try and pull together a list of these that new owners may come across. As Lesw has reminded me, you can also get lock ins, where the drivers door cannot be opened from the inside. There is supposedly a software fix for this. Quote
Maverick Posted August 29, 2004 Author Posted August 29, 2004 And another things... In case you were wondering why the alarm goes off when you lock the car. According to Citroen there needs to be a 15 second delay between closing the car door and setting the alarm, to allow the sensors to settle. In practice this seems to be as low as 5 seconds, but if you close and lock the alarm will go off for no reason just as you walk away from the car. Quote
hertsnminds Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 And multiplex wiring only allowing so many things to happen at once...so no opening all 4 windows and the roof until after the service interval display has cleared from the dash. Now we just need to find out what version of Windows Microsoft sold to Citroen... Ian Orange 03 Senso Quote
pork_pie Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Windows 3.0 with a Sinclair 48k processor. Not very reasurring that a lot of C3 problems stem from software problems and that software upgrades are constantly required to cure them. Was locked out of my ol' C3 on various occasions only for it to be mysteriouslyrectified after 10-15 minutes. Te explaination was the cars system crashed and requred rebooting! Sounds like a typical PC problem that we are all forced to stomach and forgive. The key needed recoding afterwards but why oh why can''t the car be locked manually? Quote
AndyT Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 I'm picking up a Pluriel on Tuesday and was wondering if all these problems still exist or have they been fixxed and ironed out..!! I'm sure I will find a few issues with mine being 2nd hand with only 3000 miles on the clock the previous owner obviously wanted shut of it for some reason!!! Looking forwards to your rplies. hertsnminds Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 Most of the niggles with the Pluriel can be cured, just make sure you still have some warranty left on the car so they are fixed at no cost to you. If you visit this website http://www.c3pluriel.org.uk/ It will give you some idea how to check things and it also has a section for Lemons (those cars that had a snag list so long that even Citroen stopped trying to fix them). I still find it interesting to compare any Pluriel I see with mine and note if it has the new arch seals fitted or any other little differences. I also think just talking to other owners about their experiences helps and avoids the they ALL do that sir phrase as you can give the dealer examples of one or more that do not ALL do that! AndyT Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 Well I've had the car for more than a week now and it seems water tight which was my main concern. I've had a few instances whereby I couldn't get the doors to lock or the rear screen to open and fold down into the boot floor but I am confident that this is due to the rear window not been 100% shut and hence not making the microswitch. Now I know that quirk it works every time. The most annoying thing is the CD resetting itself each time I switch off. <_< Apart from that I'm as pleased as punch. Its returned 44.5 MPG to its first tank ful and is far more versatile than I thought it was. Role on Summer. AndyT Quote
hertsnminds Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 When putting the roof down you have to have the ignition on for the the release catch to work. In fact it is best to have the ignition on when performing most of the roof changes. There was another posting on the forum that recommends having the rear windows down when fitting/removing the plastic boot cover (arches on, roof in boot configuration) and this does help as you can reach around the arch to locate the cover.
