Badlass Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 After writing off my car last week I have been offered a settlement of £7800 for an 03/03 1.4i SX Auto C3. As I haven't had to deal with this sort of thing before I am looking for any advice anyone can offer. Until last weeks fiasco the car was in immaculate condition inside and out. Does anyone have any idea of the book price, or what I should be looking for as a settlement??? Thanks in advance BL Quote
hertsnminds Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 The autotrader website www.autotrader.co.uk has a what's it worth button and this gives the following... (this assumed 1800 miles on the clock) What you pay for one from a dealer £7,409 What you pay from a private seller £7.047 What you would get as a part exchange £6,410 What the trade would pay for one £6,214 Cost new £9,870 You could also look on the Citroen website and see how much dealers are asking for them by doing a used car search. Ivor E Tower Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 Most insurance companies should replace a car under 1 year old with another brand new one. Have you checked your small-print carefully? Quote
Badlass Posted August 25, 2004 Author Posted August 25, 2004 Thanks very much for the facts and figures...I'm just gonna take the money and run after speaking to my citroen dealer. Unfortunately the car is actually 16 months old, so doesn't fall into the new car category :o Quote

Thanks in advanceBL Hi there sorry to hear of your loss, try getting downloads of adverts of your car from the web, copy the documents, try ebay for a price for the lowest then the dealers for the highest, then www.parkers.co.uk for a price to buy your exact car, send the whole lot off to the insurance Company, sit back and wait to deal with some speckie, crater faced 'youf', who will try to tell you that your car is 'worff' nought!! Tell him/her that this in not the case, i.e. be polite, even though they have insulted you and your poor disabled car!!! should be a law against this, are you listening 'idiots in EU?' lol, sorry distracted there. I did this last claim and it worked for me, got highest book price, nice. Good luck Terry Quote

Thanks in advanceBLi would take it straight away as it is a write off. if you plan to get insured through the same companyagain, try not to get on their bad side. im sure you could pick up the same sort of car with your settlement and still have money spare to go towards your next policy. try gocompare.com for cheaper insurance. i was paying £895 a year insurance for my gold xsara vtr until i got on their site. got a quote back for less than half that. that was with 3 years ncd. hope everything goes well. hope you havea better 2008.
