Welshguy Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 And having it faded towards the front is a good idea anyway I dont have my rear speakers on unless someone is in the back. Its more than loud enough to be heard without the rear speakers. Same here. Makes for a crisper sound :) Quote
skaramanga Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 If you fade it to the front speakers, does the sub still work?I would love to know more about this jbl setup!Wonder if anyone could post the sound settings that give the optimum sound quality. Quote

I second that! could anyone with optimal JBL settings post their settings for each menu? it would be much appreciated... Quote
wozza Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 What settings do you have? And can you access the amp and see the settings on that? As that is what will make the most difference. If anyone is near to me though i'll offer to come have a little play with it see if i can make it sound any better. Quote
lee_marshuk Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 I have always had my speakers set to a slightly louder setting in the back than the front, but hey! My JBL settings are:- Rear Volume + 2 Sub on Max Bass +5 or +6 depends on the song; on some cds it goes to +9 Treble on +2 Noise filtering and amp boost are set to on. As for phase etc you only get that with the big foook off head units (looks at wozza) :) Quote
wozza Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Phase the music to the front mate and listen to it properly. Your ears aren't pointed behind you. You dont go to a concert and stand with your back to the stage same thing applies in a car. Get it faded to the front and you should hear more clarity and pick more things up in the song. When you listened to mine that time I only had the 2 front speakers on. Nothing coming from the rear at all. Quote
skaramanga Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 The normal head unit doesn't have nearly that many settings! But I usually wouldn't put my bass higher than zero, too much bass!! CoolCarbon Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Sub on Max Noise filtering and amp boost are set to on. Where are the independant controls for the Sub and Noise filtering.....? Quote

I would have thought that it would give a fuller sound if all were on.I see in the handbook it says to leave the settings at zero all round and the eq off for optimal sound. Doesn't say much about the jbl system in general though. Quote
wozza Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 It actually takes away from sound quality having the rears. As I said mines setup to be a somewhat low end SQ system. I only have 2 speakers up front 2 tweeters and a sub woofer. Which if you check most audio forums is optimum listening. Having the rears on moves the soundstage backwards which is a bad thing especially if its selected to be sent to the rear more. Either way see you guys in a week im off in 20 minutes. Quote
idlerobbo Posted January 17, 2007 Author Posted January 17, 2007 Trouble is if I send mine to the front then I get the cackling I was talking about from the speakers. Maybe I do need a new head unit - or would that crackling boomy noise appear from bad speakers? Have a good holiday Wozza - great advice from you since i joined! Quote
skaramanga Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Mine is pretty much like that too, but it probably isn't the speakers, just the door panels being rattly. Quote

Yeah - I dont know which is worse though!! Really tempted to buy a new head unit though with a hard drive in it or the alpine ipod one... but then id have to buy a new cd changer - not that I would need it but I would feel like I had a dead limb in the car... would this work with the CD changer in the car? http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/blaupunkt-...0gb-p-5468.html Quote
lee_marshuk Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Mine used to drive me mad - but once I had the panels sorted I can honestly say it's a pleasure to listen to!! Those settings are there if you just scroll through the audio settings screen by screen......not sure if they are on the RD4 possibly only on the RT3 - don't know for sure though. For about only the 2nd time ever I actually disagree with Wozza - I have always preferred a bit more sound from the rear of the car; and I know loads of people do the same!! I mean it's down to personal preference of course, and Wozza is the King of Sound after all! Quote
Rich_Eason Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 I guess it depends what types of music you listen too. Music set ups are very dependant on individuality. So what sounds are we all listening too at the moment? Afterall we all know we like C4's thats why we are here, but music tells alot about your personality. So whats spinning in yours? ...in the VTS at the mo...The Knife - Silent ShoutThe Knife - KnifeAphex Twin - DrukqsLuke Vibert - Big SoupDJ Shaddow - The Outsider... Quote
