xavtia Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Tonight I ended up turning the car round on the edge of a dodgy looking estate, as I pulled up to the lights the kids in the corsa next to me looked and I saw the driver say "what the **** is that?" they then proceeded to jump up and down in the corsa like pratts trying to get a reaction ,to which I refrained, whats your fav reaction been so far? Safety Engineer Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Local dual carraigeway with traffic lights, next too me is chav boy in his clio, revving up, lights go green I pull away smoothly and leave him standing. Next set of lights I get "Fucking sorted mate, what is it?" Told him Citroen C4 2litre... diesel. Watched his mouth drop. lol. Quote
iannez Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 to be honest i dont think there is many of the hot hatches these days will do a great lot with a c4 2.0 hdi. like them a lot better than the 180 2.0 petrols as you dont have to ring there necks to get them to go. torque is the way forward. with a decent map one should get somewhere near the same torque as a m3 as the golf 150tdi's do. go on do it lol. Quote
wozza Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Also get near the 180bhp mark with a remap. But the i think the VTS180 engine is a little wrong for the car it would suit a smaller hatch but the C4 is a big car really does need a turbo 2.0 i think. On something like the C3 / C2 the 2.0 180 would be amazing. Everyone else is doing it to super minis why not Citroen? But best remark was when i parked it up outside a chip shop in scotland. Went in sat down ordered and started to eat about 10 -15 minutes later 2 guys walk in and first thing one of them says is "You see that red citroen that fucking braw like" And carried on talking about it. I just sat there with a smile thinking yeah I made the right choice about my car lol. Was the same day i bought the car. Quote
Mat Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Intreaging that every quote so far includes a certain word :( Quote
Welshguy Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 I love the reaction of Civic Type R owners...they sit at lights thinking "I look the ***oops***!"...and then I pull up :( Quote
Stuey Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 seems to be the general opinion from other motorists is awe. Which is nice :( I do like the idea of having a C4 with as much torque as an M3 though!! Go on Lee you know you want too! Quote
wozza Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Seems the guys on the Clio forums think differently. http://cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=191668 Have to say mine has been more unreliable than my Clio but its a newer car with a lot more to go wrong. Quote
Rich_Eason Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 I do like the idea of having a C4 with as much torque as an M3 though!! Go on Lee you know you want too! Problem with that is Front Wheel Drive -you'd squirt the throttle and go sideways with torque steer wouldnt you? Shedding tyres might also be a prob ;) Put a new aspect on driving I guess. :( Quote
Stuey Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Vauxhall decided not to get rid of the Torque steer from the VXR to make it more interesting...maybe it would make the commute to work a bit more hairy fighting the car not to go into hedges! Quote
Rich_Eason Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Why worry about the hedges when you also need to worry about the white line in the middle of the road and not crossing it! :( I'd imagine Vauxhall under calibrate the odometer as well for all the extra distance you travel going sideways but not necessarily in a straight line. You can see the VXR Marketing Tag Line now... Get from A to D....via B to C and back to B then back to C and back to B then back to C and back to B then back to C and finally You arrive at D.... Quote
Stuey Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 thats a good point Rich! as for the A-D you may well end up at F as you will be going far to fast to stop in time for D as you didnt specify uprated brakes so you have the ones of the Astra estate. Dont most VXR's end up upside down before they reach B in anycase as they are far to powerful for a lot of people who drive them?? Quote
Rich_Eason Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Believe it or not Stuey at the weekly shop at Tescos lastnight I parked near a Silver VXR and it had roof bars fitted so perhaps this saves any damage to the roof when you flip it? Wish I took a pic as it looked more sheeeeite than normal. Probably helps them slow it down a bit too. :( Quote
Stuey Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 I like the look of the VXR!! you could fit some castor wheels on the roof bars so you could carry on with your journey when it flips... Quote
Rich_Eason Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 I never have seen the appeal in the looks of Vauxhalls... You could do, probably handle better :( ;) Quote
Stuey Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 I dont think it handles badly, it just likes to kill people who are in its general postcode area :( Quote
Safety Engineer Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 The recent Vauxhall's I've had the misfortune to drive whilst waiting for my C4 and the electrical faults have put me of them for life !! As for the remap, if it wasn't a company car I'd have already done it. 'Big Grin'... Am changing job soon so am on the lookout for a Xsara estate, love the C4 but do need an estate for my work gear. Quote
Stuey Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 the C4 estate is on the way from what I understand... Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Back to the original topic.. :( "Is that a race car?" ;) Quote
Stuey Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Back to the original topic.. :( Pah with your back to topic musings!! Me and Rich have had an in depth discussion about how much the Astra VXR likes to kill people and how to improve its handling by putting castors wheels on the roof. all productive stuff that!! clearly me and hm have had nohing to do at work today ;) I am currently photoshopping wheels on the roof of a VXR...back soon Quote
Rich_Eason Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 clearly me and hm have had nohing to do at work today :PStuey You have never been so right! Unfortunatly my computer at work doesnt have the luxury of Photoshop but thankfully Internet Access..my usage has gone through the roof recently! :( Stuey another thought. In your theroetical VXR if you were to ever get caught short and not have your roof bars on you, you can always substitute them with a shopping trolly and long bungees stretched to and from each jacking point...will look a bit heath robinson but would "get you home" Not sure what would happen when you go over those things that lock the trolley wheels at the supermarket exits though.... ;) That might cause a small problem Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 :P I am currently photoshopping wheels on the roof of a VXR...back soon I am looking forward to seeing that!  Seriously, now that you have said it, you have to do it......playgroud law! Quote
idlerobbo Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 When I got my C4 1.4i VT (Before I upgraded to the 2.0 VTS) this guy was peering through my drivers door when i was walking back to my car - he looked startled when he saw me approaching him and then said "Thats a sweet car mate, I love that dashboard". I felt pelased with myself, but then couldnt help but think was he actually trying to steal it (or looking for something to steak inside)!?? and came up with some crap when he saw me approaching! Guess ill never know haha Quote
Tylor C4 VTR Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 people cnt get over the way the steerin wheel centre desnt move! it seems to astound them! Quote
