Mike5483 Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 You know when you push the 'Windscreen Clear' button and it directs all air at the window and switches the fan on to full speed??? Mine doesnt do that anymore. If I push that button, the air goes to the right place, but the fan comes on two notches short of full. Needless to say in the mornings when there is a little mist on the inside, it takes ages to clear!!! Anyone got any ideas??? Quote
wozza Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Mine always went to 3 full fan things i just press the increase button a couple times to clear it quicker. Quote
Rich_Eason Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 I think what you have described is right... I dont think it does come at full whack, however not sure if AC comes on automatically on flicking the button but this will also clear the screen faster if it is on. Quote
ham's c4vts Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 (edited) i think its down to the temp you set, the fan blows harder when the temp is high(25*c) just tried it, yes the fan blows harder when you pump up the temp Edited January 12, 2007 by ham's c4vts Quote
Mike5483 Posted January 12, 2007 Author Posted January 12, 2007 Im going to check that out next time im in the car. Thanks Hammy boy!!! Quote
C4VTS Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Just as ham's said.. You need to set a higher temperature. Mine is permanently on 25°C this time of year and the demist works ok. Quote
Fizzo17 Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 25!!!!!! You will be cooked by the end of a long journey :D :D :D Quote
wozza Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 I have mine set to HI when i first get in it. Then as it gets warmer decrease normally keep it at 20 - 22 Quote
Fizzo17 Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 Mine is usually set between 16 to 18. My wife is always complaining that the house is cold even though I am sat in my shorts and T shirt. She says I am having hot flushes.....having read some of the posts I think she may have a point!!!!!!! :D Quote
Mike5483 Posted January 14, 2007 Author Posted January 14, 2007 It did definately used to come on all the time at high speed, im sure. I know this because whenm I had my air con leaking into the footwell, I always had to clear the screen and that was leaking for months. There is no way I would have had the temp set that high in August/september time. General consensus though, is that it is meant to come on at a speed less then full, right??? Quote
Mike5483 Posted January 14, 2007 Author Posted January 14, 2007 Its wierd, oh yes it is... Just got in the car to go shopping, started car, heater set to 22, pushed the button to clear the screen and it comes on full blast!!! WTF??? Quote
ham's c4vts Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 25!!!!!! You will be cooked by the end of a long journey :D :D :D i wasnt on about temp i use in car, it was just to prove a point about the screen demister working. The higher the temp the faster the fan blows! :P Quote
hertsnminds Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 I think it is a combination of the temp you have set and the outside temp. Mine did the same as yours, used to always go straight to full blast when pressed, then stopped doing it, but is OK again. The only difference was the external temp. I suppose this makes sense as the difference in temp between the inside and outside of the glass will contribute to the amount of condensation. IanBlack 55 VTR+ Quote
Rich_Eason Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Thats all well and good and a great function if that is the case of how it operates, but surley that is making a simple function of demisting overly complex and unecessary? Would imagine full blast would do what ever the weather! Quote
idlerobbo Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 is it bad - or infact does it mean my AC is broken if i sit with mine at 26 or 27 at this time of year!?? Quote
wozza Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 No cause i do the same but when my eyes start drying out then i open the window for a couple seconds. Quote
idlerobbo Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 No cause i do the same but when my eyes start drying out then i open the window for a couple seconds. hehe. yeah. Phew thought maybe I had an abnormal body temperature or my AC was broken! haha Quote
Mike5483 Posted January 16, 2007 Author Posted January 16, 2007 is it bad - or infact does it mean my AC is broken if i sit with mine at 26 or 27 at this time of year!?? I reckon your a cold blooded lizard!!! Quote
idlerobbo Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 I reckon your a cold blooded lizard!!! other than using more petrol it wont do any damage it being on permanently will it? Quote
Stuey Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 no, its a good idea to keep it on as it will keep the AC systems lubricated and stop bad smells. Quote
