Guest james Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Hi Guys! Glad I found this forum. I'm been test driving a number of cars including Focus, 207, Civic and the C4. Most impressed with the Civic and then the C4 but as the C4 is more in my price range it's the one I'm looking at getting now. Needing to rely on finance (which is difficult for me to get for reasons I wont go into :) ) so I'm pretty much stuck with one dealer. Been offered the following. What do you think? Iron Grey1.6 petrolVTR+Nov 0411.4kcd changer£8,500 Of this £7,500 is being provided from finance. How much more do you think I can beat him down? The dealer is looking at buying the above car and shipping it in for them to sell to me. Also, is there anything I should be looking out for on this car? It's obviously from the first few batches of this model and I've read somewhere that there have been several recalls for different reasons. How would I know if this car was affected and if so if the necessary work has been done? Also, are there any other known problems I shoudl investigate? Any help much appreciated! :o Quote
CoolCarbon Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Sounds a bit pricey to be honest.... Have a quick look around 'fleabay' to get a take on what they are fetching... http://motors.search.ebay.co.uk/citroen-c4...ZR8QQsacatZ9801 I know you say your circs. are a wee bit restrictive, but don't get taken for a ride, be careful.. :) Quote
Guest james Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 I'm hoping to beat him down £500 or so. Quote
Guest james Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Got them down to £8k which after looking at the Citroen used cars website looks a pretty good deal to me. Any comments? Do I get or should I be asking for any freebies? Quote
CoolCarbon Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Well, you've got what you were after so that's a result...surely  If you can get some freebies, great..mudflaps or mats would always be useful... Quote

You didn't say how many miles, but a couple of new tyres wouldn't go amiss. Start with asking for a year's tax, but accept 6 months! Quote

wozza Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Yeah same here i´ve lost mine somewhere i know i put it somewhere safe when i moved house unfortunately im not entirely sure where that somewhere safe is no more it could be in the attic in a bag or it could be in one of the many boxes left from the move. Rich_Eason Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007  I think when we moved we had about 20 safe places. I got it in the neck last week because I put £240 of John Lewis vouchers "in a safe place" and thus spent two hours looking for them. Moving house is so much fun  Quote
wozza Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Was funny the other day when i was getting ready to leave for benidorm looking for my passport im like i put it in a safe place. Looked into box room to be greeted with 20+ boxes that are all classed as in a safe place. I eventually found it lol. Quote
