c14vts Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 girlfriend would kill me if i got a c2 version barely get the kids in the back of the c4 coupe Quote
Stuey Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 the new mini cooper S has the 1.6 turbo and it kicks out 170bhp which is the same as the new VTS engine. Quote
wozza Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 Wait till the special versions start coming out and the power starts going up. Simple remap would see that going a fair bit higher. Think I prefer the supercharger though myself. I love the whine of a supercharger. Quote
CoolCarbon Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 Which sounds like a small engine but when you think the C4 in a 1.6 is only 1200kg its a fairly light car Things haven't moved on too much really... :( My 16 Valve BX..160BHP weight 1045kgs 0-60 7.4 sec.....circa 1988 vintage( mines a 1991 actually)....that'll be nearly 20 years without too much in the way of change performance wise... :P I hope the C4 lasts as well as the BX.. <_< Quote
wozza Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 Still a bit quicker the mi16 lump was heavy. And really its just a similar car but more modern not many cars have gotten much quicker recently only so much you can do with fwd cars before they get horrible to drive. What we need is a 4wd C4. Welshguy Posted January 29, 2007 Author Posted January 29, 2007 So anybody with a 1.4 going to get it done? Quote
wozza Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Just get it done mate if you want it done. If you dont like it you can get a refund and the map taken off. Quote
idlerobbo Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 I think im gonna go for the re-map. whats the other package they do? whats a CDA too? will that make much more difference? seems steep at 500ish squids!? Quote
wozza Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Its a sealed induction kit to replace the stock air filter. Means you dont need to have the paper filter replaced every service so they cant charge you for it. And it has the ability to increase power by a small amount bit more with a map tailored to it. Best off asking them if its worthwhile you doing though there usually pretty honest. Not always a point in putting one on it depends on the engine. Quote
CoolCarbon Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Plus....it will no doubt arouse 'Interest' after a bump....not that I would wish a bump on anyone.... Just something to bear in mind, whereas the remap is not visible...to the naked eye, so to speak.. ;) Quote
wozza Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Just stay you have an induction kit on insurance which your supposed ot do anyway. £20 extra sorted. Makes a nicer noise as well when you put your foot down get a nice induction roar. Quote
CoolCarbon Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Look forward to the result..... ;) Are they coming to you........? Quote
idlerobbo Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 yep - they are coming to me. I mentioned my c4owners forum membership - he said with it being on a sunday (only day im really free) it was premium rate and the best he could knock off was 25 quid. cant really argue with that i guess... Quote
Stuey Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 we will definatly need before and after pictures if you are have the induction kit... Quote
idlerobbo Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 I think im going to leave the induction kit. I might change my mind but im already having second thoughts 325 quid arghhhh Quote
ham's c4vts Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 ive just been quoated £295 for mine, 14 bhp and 15ftlb torque........hmmmmmmmmm ;) Quote
wozza Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Sounds worth while. Remember as well as feeling the extra power / torque. You will get any flat spots ironed out and pick up better right through the rev range. Quote
idlerobbo Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 ive just been quoated £295 for mine, 14 bhp and 15ftlb torque........hmmmmmmmmm ;) yeah the petrol version gets an extra 14-15bhp... he thought I had a petrol when I first spoke to him. the diesel gets an extra 35bhp. I will notice straight away wont i? thats quite a jump yes? Quote

I wonder how much MPG extra it will give it? Quote
wozza Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 depends on if your right foot gets heavier or not with the extra power. If you start flooring it more it will drop more than it did before, Quote
ham's c4vts Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 just been reading on a forum about remapping a 206 gti 180 and they gained around 12 to 15 bhp and same in torque. they were saying pound for pound its worth it easy gain for not much cash. im going to have a good long think on the toilet and decide. oops too much information Quote
