CoolCarbon Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 Would either of these really work?http://www.m-99.co.uk/Power_Mod/power_mod.html For that sort of money....'snake oil', steer well clear.... <_< Quote
C4VTS Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 Would either of these really work? Don't even think about it!! A company selling ring tones and unlock codes for mobile phones are not going to be experts in car tuning. :o On a "Top Gear" challenge Jeremy had a mitishibishi (wow that is spelt wrong! :D ) starrion with one of those things on, and it seemed to blow him away, how much of that was for televsion i will never know.... That car was running on nitro, and did not have this thing on it if i remember correctly ! Quote
wozza Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 this is just a resistor that tricks your car into thinking its got different air fuel ratio as a result it causes your car to run rich. Damaging the engine. Quote
syrup Posted January 28, 2007 Author Posted January 28, 2007 I wasn't thinking of buying one, more than happy with my cars performance (I'm getting on a bit) just interested if they work. Quote
Mike5483 Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 I wasn't thinking of buying one, more than happy with my cars performance (I'm getting on a bit) just interested if they work. They do work. They just make the engine drive round thinking its getting really dense, cold air in, so it dumps loads of fuel in. In that sense, you do get a performance increase, but you also get an engine operating outside of the way its intended to run, and fuel consumption goes up. They do damage engines. As has been set, its just a Potentiometer. This is a step up from the old mod, which just involved replacing the sensor with a set resistor. Again, in this sense, this new one is better value for money, because a resistor costs about 10p and they were still charging £5 for it. One for the Nova/Saxo brigade I feel!!! Quote
Rich_Eason Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 I have seen worse (still trying to find one it ebay, from viewing it Friday) There is a "Power Boost" increase switch on Ebay that claims to increase power by 5% however all it is, is an illuminated switch that you basically wire in to a supply and earth out to the body. Just imagine drilling the hole in the dash, wiring in and firing up the engine...flick the switch... AND FEEL THE POWER! :o :D :( :( :( Quote
Mike5483 Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 A little while ago there was some dodgy geezer selling 'Turbos'... It was basically a computer fan type affair in some plastic tubing. I really hope he didn't sell any. Quote
