Covered 350miles in first week mainly shortish journeys. So far no problems does everything it's supposed to. No rattles or squeaks anywhere. Drives very well and 42-44mpg round town.

Love the gearbox, smooth changes or fast as you wish.

Only minor criticism is the 2" gap on right of sunvisor that the sun always manages to shine through.

Needed a seperate aerial for GPS which is stuck onto hatched part of windscreen and works well.

So far, very impressed...

Sorry for the boring review.

I just read a review on the top gear website on the EGS, they said pretty much the exact opposite

makes you wonder about the differences between customer cars and the press fleet...

Shows how little interest they have when they can't even show a rhd version. I try to be objective and when I bother to use sport mode and plant my right foot down it's as near an instant change as I could manage with normal clutch etc.

But, what do I know? :)

Good to hear it's all going as expected, and good fun too!

I'm intrigued by the aerial on the front windscreen as I'm thinking of doing the same for my DAB radio.

Did you install it yourself, and what's the route of the cable from the top of the 'screen to the device?

Are there any problems at motorway speeds?

Any chance of a photo?

Cheers, John.

The gps aerial is a small 1" square box about 1/4" deep stuck inside the windscreen, (nothing on the outside). It's on the hatched part as that's the "clear" bit of the athermic screen. Used some double sided sticky tape. I poked the cable, with the back of a comb, underneath the screen surround moldings following C4Owners instructions. Right hand side dash molding just pulled off and put the cable behind and replaced. I did need an extension for the power lead to reach the Cig lighter socket.

Ah! Sorry, I thought it was an external aerial.

Something like this.

Many thanks.

What car tested the C4 picasso 1.6 hdi with EGS and thought is was good, suppose Top Gear will moan about "normal" cars after driving Exotica. you'll most likely to get a proper report/test with What Car too.

Clarkson likes the C4, which is one reason I got one.

I have 2 solutions for this, a couple of rubber bands and a piece of card or just lower the visor to it's 1st click not all the way to the window. The bottom edge of the visor will be pointing at your head but it keeps more of the screen covered.

I've put about 1500 miles on my EGS now...it's good fun for sure....

I use the 'Auto' function knocking around Town, then slip it over to 'Manual' when out and about...

It's just like a normal manual without having to use a clutch pedal...the Paddles are just in the right place and a gentle stroke is all it takes to swap cogs... ;)

For the most part, unless accelerating hard, the changes are barely perceptible especially once in the higher gears...you need to keep an eye on the Gear Counter in the Rev Counter screen

In comparison to my previous VTR+, it is basically the same...ride wise, feel etc...

On the down side...The EGS motor seems noisier inside the car at slow speeds around Town, it's not just this car, but noticed it in the Demonstrator too.

It's about 10% worse on fuel consumption which I am really pissed off about when the 'blurb' says it could be 'Up to 6% better'!

Wouldn't bother if it was the same, but worse is not on.! :D and no, I've not changed my driving style.

I will be getting the Dealer to check if there something wrong in a wee while once I have a few more miles on it, you never know, it could improve as things loosen up.....

If the car is brand spankers then I would expect it to be a bit erratic in terms of consumption until it gets fully ran in...when ever or what ever that milage might be.

Done 1600 in mine now. The computer was initially reading 44mpg, during the first few weeks, but about a week ago improved to 45.5mpg, so good to see things improving.

I personally find that the EGS gearchanges are slightly less smooth than I manage on my manual Picasso. I find that it waits a bit too long to change to 2nd from 1st (so I often change up via the paddle anyway to get the earlier gearchange).

In any case, fun to drive, and very pleased with the car. Gets its first checkup on Monday - only annoyance is a minor rattle on the passenger door.

I can't see why can't Citroen do the EGS system on the C3. or even bring back the Diesel Sensodrive.

I am just lucky my C3 1.6i 16v Sensodrive is brilliant on fuel.

This fault should have been fixed in production a long time ago. <_<

Took it in for the 1500 mile service, and the dealer fixed this.

Also worth noting, I reset the fuel consumption counters after the service. Since then I've done about 100 miles and it is now reporting 47mpg.

Nice to see they did actually bother to clean the car after the service - an essential minimum expectation if any garage wants to claim they give good customer service!

I would prefer they dont clean mine they use cheap nasty sponges and the stuff they clean it with takes all the wax and polish off as well. Meaning i get swirl marks and a less sparkly car.

I will be picking up my C4 HDI EGS sometime after 1 March. VTR+ Coupe in wicked red with glass roof, JBL hi-fi and rear sensors, in which I will fit a Pioneer AVICS sat-nav with fold out screen and CD changer. CAN'T WAIT!!

I found the gear change very smooth (compared to the Smart Brabus I am currently driving) and the low emissions are a bonus if Ken Livingstone sticks to his word and allows cars of 120g CO2/km to be exempt from his CONgestion Charge.

I must congratulate on your excellent choice of colour, however make sure you keep the car shampoo stocks high as this colour doenst half show the dirt well

Ohhhh nice....I've been looking at these recently, although I also quite fancy buying a double din DVD touchscreen headunit and blending it into my VT's dashboard - can't really justify brand new prices though so trying to find a bargin on ebay..
