Bryce4Duce Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 Hi All in the Forum,I got a letter Today from Citroen South Africa requesting me to take my C4 VTS to have the control block under the steering column changed. This is in order to eliminate any small risk of the vehicle mafunctioning!!! I have read the Forum regularly for about six months and never read of such a problem?? Could anyone enlighten me?? Could it be that the water goes down the plugole in the opposite direction to where the vehicle is manufactured? Thanks for anticipated assistance. Bryce  Quote
wozza Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 We had a couple threads on this a while ago. Quite a few people had it replaced. But it does not affect every C4 if i remember correctly. Can not quite remember what happens if it does malfunction though. Quote
c14vts Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 absolutely no idea what this bit is but i also had the same recall on my vts (Birmingham ,England} Bit more northern than yourself i guess, But no, they make no exception to which way the water goes round a plug hole im no help at all SORRY :) Quote
lee_marshuk Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 Had no idea you were in my neck of the woods, C4VTS! Quote

hertsnminds Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 When I had mine fixed they told me it was because... after time the control block might malfunction and stop the immobiliser working (stops reading info from the key) and the new block is more robust. IanBlack 55 VTR+ Quote
Welshguy Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 Can not quite remember what happens if it does malfunction though. Could catch FIRE if I remember rightly... Quote
Stuey Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 Could catch FIRE if I remember rightly... it was the ABS control unit that caught fire, the control block stopped the engine starting... Quote
Bryce4Duce Posted February 8, 2007 Author Posted February 8, 2007 Thanks for the replies guys at least I have some Idea why they want to change it as speaking to them on the phone they have no IDEA!! have to take my car in have sevice book checked then they have to order the part from France and tell me when it's recievad and go back and have it fitted this is a round trip of300mile each time!!! French ORGANISATION?? Surely they know how may have been sold that needs part changing should't they have sent the part first then tell the customer to come in and have it done??? apparently it's a 10 minute job. thanks AGAIN FORUM MEMBERS Just checked out some of your snow pics I really envy you guys loved the snow havent experienced it for 25 yrs. cheers ALL Quote
