Bassrock Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Hi all, Problem is that when I switch the rear wiper on it should sweep from 9 oclock to 2 oclock roughly, however its only sweeping 10 oclock to 1 oclock. So:- Lift up rear windscreen and motor mechanism sweeps as it should 9 to 2. (rear windscreen can lift independantly from tailgate on estate, handy) if I physically try to move the wiper arm on the rear windscreen it does seem stiff, (its a bit cald up here in Edinburgh -1 ish) However, Can't figure out how to strip wiper blade assembly from windscreen, clean WD40 etc. Anyone any ideas :o Quote

Bassrock Posted February 9, 2007 Author Posted February 9, 2007 take off wiper arm, mine was stiff, be careful or arm will break!nut underneath it holds mechanism to glass How do I take off wiper arm, can't see access to any nut externally (outside of vehicle), when you say nut underneath, do you mean internal to the tailgate itself ??try looking at slot in tailgate inside and make sure motor moves the 'slot' thingy :o all the way from left to right. Slot in tailgate thingy ok, it sweeps ok 9 to 2 i had a few creaking noises on mine after replacing glass I just can't picture how they have assembled this, the cover over the drive arm (external) this must be able to be removed ??!! (The black cover I mean). Your help much appreciated here Quote
old'uns Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 think cover on arm flips up towards blade? nut then underneath & arm then on spline as a normal wiper arm Quote
iannez Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 the wiper arm just needs removing and refitting in the correct place. no need to strip the mech. Quote
Bassrock Posted February 10, 2007 Author Posted February 10, 2007 the wiper arm just needs removing and refitting in the correct place. no need to strip the mech. Sorry Jannez, but the inner mechanism on tailgate which "drives" the blade mechanism is A1 110% ok, whats happening is when window closes on tailgate drive mechanism seats into drive, but, because wiper blade mechanisn stiff through the windsreen the drive mechanism pops out causing error in sweep, thats why the mechanism (shaft) through windscreen needs to be stripped and cleaned to free the stiffness. Hope this clarifies Quote
