nelliened Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 hi can anyone help me !!! the positive battery lead on my xantia keeps melting !!! have replaced the lead twice now from the starter and the leads that go to the fuse boxunder the dash !! the only wiring mod i have had done is ignition mod for the heaters ?? no lights on dash and no faults i can see ??? have tried new battery with no luck !! :D has anyone had this problem b4 can anyone help !!!! Nav1g8r Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 the reason it melts is due to high amps somewhere. Something is drawing a lot of current. I would put a multimeter on it and then go through keys in, 2nd click, start engine and see what the draw is at each stage. If it is more than 30-40A then it might need a thicker cable (like you get on In Car Entertainment amplifiers, active subwoofers etc.) a good cable should be bigger than 60amp capacity. Quote
