Z3M Roadster Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Driving home this evening, gave the screen a wash and heard a nasty scraping noise from the left wiper. The second sweep saw half the left arm and blade disappear into the darkness. Got home to see the arm has snapped in half, lets hope it doesn't rain tomorrow and my local stealer can replace it before my 11am meeting in Portsmouth! Quote
C4VTS Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Too bad that rain is forecast for the rest of the week. :D Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted February 20, 2007 Author Posted February 20, 2007 Thanks for that! I am meant to be doing around 400miles tomorrow. Worst comes to the worst and the dealer doesn't have another arm, I'll get a hire car through the lease company just another major inconvenience. Quote
Mike5483 Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 The wiper arm or the blade??? I cant see how the arm could shear in half, unless it had been damaged somehow, but then you should have noticed a damaged wiper arm anyway. It can happen to any car. I know you have a downer on the C4 and Citroen, but broken wipers can occur on any vehicle. Happened on my Dad's Rover, on a coach I was on once... You should consider yourself lucky that if your car is unusable, you can get another one. Most of us arn't so lucky. Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted February 21, 2007 Author Posted February 21, 2007 The downer I have on the C4 is only brought about by the fact that it has been extremely poor. Yes the arm had become damaged by someone as there is also some paint missing from the bonnet where the wiper has been bent upwards. No idea how much it cost to replace, but I do know the blade was £26+VAT which seems rather steep. Thankfully the lease company picks up the bill. Quote
hertsnminds Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 That's the thing with the C4 wipers if you don't know they are not a standard pull and lift type. Just need to get a fly poster leaving leaflets under wipers, a traffic light squeeegiest, parking attendant leaving a ticket or spotty oik just lifting all wiper blades and they can get damaged. bill03 Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Leave them parked vertically when on a car park.. Quote
idlerobbo Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 out of interest though... how do you lift them up?? I thought I was being retarded when cleaning my c4! Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted February 23, 2007 Author Posted February 23, 2007 Put key in and turn to postion 2, then press down on the wiper stalk. The wipers will stop in the vertical position, you can then lift them up. Quote
xavtia Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 dont need the key in to park the wipers just tap the stalk and it will move the wipers cant see how the C4 can be to blame if the wipers have been vandalised surely its the vandal to blame as it would happen to any car that had been vandalised Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted February 25, 2007 Author Posted February 25, 2007 The key does need to be turned otherwise the car will be in economy mode and no electrics work. Unless of course you have been driving and then remove the key in which case the wipers will sweep a few times before the electrics shut down. I wasn't blaming the C4 if you read my post Quote
