MUSKY Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 My wife has a Xsara 1.4 2001 and the windscreen washers packed up. To cut a long story short I had a quick look but didn't fancy it - thought it needed a new pump - so off it went to an independent garage that specialise in Citreons. They said it wasn't the motor just the switch but they couldn't do it as it needs "reprogramming" at a main dealer :D . Two questions really - can I do it anyway and what needs reprogramming to change a washer switch? Quote
iannez Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 have you checked engine bay fuse. (think its fuse 14) if it is the switch xsaras changed on 2001. some have comms2000 and some a regular wiper stalk. if it has radio ctrls under the wiper stalk it is comms model. if there on steering wheel it normal switch. the comms is a lot more expensive and harder to fit as you need to remove the steering wheel but nether of these need programming. 9 out of ten times its the fuse so make sure before ordering anything. good luck and hope this helps. It hasn't got any radio controls on it so hopefully its a normal type one. As to the fuses I tried to check but the listing in the hand book bears little resemblance to whats under the dash or in the engine bay! :D So I'll have another look at 14, thats after I fit a new battery when I get home as it was dead this morning. Don't think we'll have this much longer at this rate. Its a year older than my Octavia done less miles and is far more trouble  , so can't see swmbo sticking with it much more! Thanks for the help. Quote
MUSKY Posted March 2, 2007 Author Posted March 2, 2007 Had to put a new battery on it  and now the washers work fine  Quote
