The oil level display flashed on start up on Tuesday morning and then showed half full.........checked the level with the dipstick and showed it a little low so topped it up until it registered full using the said dipstick.

The dash display still flashes on start up and shows 2 bars moving to 3 (half full) after a couple of miles ...10 mile drive to work and still showing only half...........the sump shows full using the dipstick.

Really dont want to go through the hassle of booking it into the dealer so has anyone got any ideas..

Thanks in advance

it isnt the engine temp display you are looking at is it?? it is on the right of the display...this never goes above 3 bars, if it does you should worry...

As Stuey said its the temp guage not the oil gauge. If the oils low it will give you a warning on the central screen. mine did last time it was low anyway.

the dipstick is the only way to be sure. the level sensors are not very good and should only be taken notice of if it shows empty. do not add oil if the dipstick is showing max.

Were you parked on a hill when you noticed this?

A couple of times I have left mine parked facing down a very steep hill and it flashes up with low oil. Only until you park it on level ground turn the ignition off and on again does it sort itself out.

You dipstick however is the only real true indication of how much oil is in the engine...when parked on the level.

This confused me too...

the oil light flashed and said oil low and it displays right next to the temp guague, stupid if you ask me!!

I was like "has that always been there??"

The way I understood it is the Temp Gauge is a dual purpose display. When you start up it flashes, and this is your oil level. Hopefully it should be full and will say Oil Ok underneath. Once it stops flashing and the oil message disappears, it is now showing coolant temp. I agree its not very clear and the only way to be sure is to check the dipstick.

I have noticed if you park on a slope with the passenmger side lower then the drivers side, this warning flashes up to.

Also, my car seems to log the warning and will keep showing it every time I start up until I check the dip stick.

As the dipstick tube got some sort of sensor in it/on it???

The dual purpose display seems to be the most obvious explanation but it's funny that I have never noticed this before ...wonder if it's mentioned in the handbook ......must read it one day.

The nearside heated mirror seems to have stopped working now, anyone else had this and is it a straight swap for a new one under warranty. has it become infected with the citroen build quality virus ..............nasty rattle in the rear quarter roof lining as well.....oh dear

Thanks for the answers guys

Cheers

Just out of interest how do you know it has stopped working? On a previous car with heated mirrors only once did I see them steaming off ice and condensation and that was a cold day!

Not sure if they are turned on by themselves ( :blink:ooo er ) or if they come on with the rear demister switch...again on previous car this is how you turned them on.
