naylor22 Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 I have a '51 2.2 HDi Exclusive C5 which has developped an irritating problem. The CD/radio player has a mind of its own and switches itself on at random intervals - sometimes only a few minutes apart. More worrying is that it sometimes does it when there is no key in ignition and I have left the car!! Most of the time I have to drive along with vol. turned to zero. Also, if I am playing a CD it can switch itself over to radio which is also irritating. Has any one any ideas how I can get it to behave itself? Quote

72dudes Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Also check if "PTY" is showing in the dispaly when radio or CD is on. This is the program type button, which may be searching for a particular type of programme (rock, news, plays etc). To disable, keep button TA pressed for more than 2 seconds. However, I don't think this or traffic news would cause the radio to switch itself on if the radio was off, so it may be a more serious gremlin unfortunately. Quote
mikefromherts Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Hiya - I had a Xantia a few years back did the swapping between radio & CD trick. It took several complaints before the dealership replaced it under warranty. It would just suddenly swap, and keep on swapping, every 10 seconds !!! Turning it off and on again would cure it for a bit, but not for long. Then after a while of it being turned off ('cos I couldn't listen to anything) it would revert to normal for days or weeks before firing off again. I had to put up with Citroen UK telling the dealership that I had the "TA" switched on and it was just the traffic news cutting in. I told them I'd read the manual and did know how it worked, thanks... It just took persistence before it was replaced. If you're out of warranty I don't know how you'd deal with it... Quote
