Hi,

I've just had to replace the rear wiper arm on a Berlingo. I had a devil of a job removing the spring to release the arm and guess what? Yep for the life of me I cannot figure out how to stretch the spring sufficiently to re-engage it onto the new arm.

Can anyone help?

TIA

I've never changed a complete arm but there's an old AA man's trick for springs in general which might work here (I'd need to look at ours to see the fitting exactly).

Extend the spring away from it's mounting and put coins between the coils - this prevents the spring from closing up without pulling on it - which can make it easier to hook the end over.

It works on motorcycle centrestand springs - might do the trick here.

Terry,

that sounds like an excellent idea, thanks. I'll give it a go in the morning.

Sorry if Iv'e hijacked your thread but I have a similar problem, the tiny catch that holds the blade in has snapped. Can't get a new wiper arm for love nor money, any online suggestions before I spend a fortune at the citroen dealer? (old shape berlingo).

If its the bit I think it is, you get one with a new wiper blade. Try German Swedish and French. They have branches all over and all sorts of bits of good quality. they are at

www.gsfcarparts.com

or phone 020 8917 3801 for mail order.

HI,

I replaced the rear wiper arm on my Berlingo, after I broke the end clip which holds the blade in place....I had to resort to my trusty bearing puller to remove the old wiper arm, as it was stuck fast on it's spline!

The replacement arm only cost £7.67 including vat from Citroen, so at least it wasn't an expensive job.

Cheerz,
