Max227 Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 New here, any help greatly appreciated....While fitting a driveshaft boot i noticed the front discs were getting a little rough, replaced drivers side disc first and used the same pads which were pretty good. Ran car for a couple of days and the pedal suddenly went almost to the floor, pump it a couple of times and back with brake, first press again brakes to the floor with a small amount of braking. Removed disk and pads again, caliper seemed to be sticking, removed top bolt and using a block of wood pushed caliper off its bottom slide, lubricated and refitted....disk and caliper serviced on the other side. System bleed, we now have the original problem of brake travel excess, couple of pumps and brakes are back leave a minute first press brake to floor.....Fitted known working master cylinder and total bleed again, problem the same. Any ideas anyone, i'm about to pull my hair out.RegardsMax Quote
Max227 Posted April 6, 2007 Author Posted April 6, 2007 Thanks, sorted the problem out....The bottom slide that the caliper rides on is a polished metal bar, the caliper has a rubber type inset which slides on this bar.......i wrongly used copper grease and this caused the rubber to swell locking the caliper, i've since cleaned it all out and used silicon grease to lubricate the slide....ThanksMax  Quote
