cmcternan Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Please, please, please can someone help. I have just driven from glasgow to london and had to keep under 75 mph due to the over speed warning. I have read the manual from cover to cover and there is nothing telling me how to switch it of. How do you switch it off? I don't want to drive back up to Glasgow with this alarm blaring into the cabin!!! Quote
wozza Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 There should not be a speed warning alarm on the C4 as far as I am aware. Quote
bill03 Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 I don't know as I haven't got one but could there be one on the Citroen Sat Nav? I know my TomTom flashes red speed warnings when over the speed limit on a particular road. Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 The C4s has speed limiters like my brothers MK2 C3 Exclusive. I have had a go of it in my brothers C3 but I rather the over speed warning in my C3. Quote
wozza Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 See alarms annoy me rather it just stopped accelerating and if i want to go faster past the limiter just push the pedal down so it overrides the limiter. Guessing its like the C4 on the C3 that if floor the gas pedal it turns off the speed limiter? Never heard any audio alarm though or seen any settings for it anywhere in the menus. Quote
hertsnminds Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 The C4 only has a speed limiter or cruise control. Speed limiter can be overridden by pressing the accelerator against the floor switch i.e. flooring the accelerator. Even the C3 overspeed warning only pings a couple of times when you cross the limit it is set to, then it shuts up. Have you looked at the display when you get the alarm sound, sometimes a message will flash up on the lower display telling you what problem the car thinks it has. Maybe you have a door catch or seatbelt warning coming up. Try pressing the test button and watch the messages scroll through on the display. What spec C4 do you have, does it have sat nav? cmcternan Posted April 1, 2007 Author Posted April 1, 2007 Its a 110 diesel VTR+. It went in to get some work done and came back with this alarm. Its got nothing to do with the cruise control or speed limiter cause it still happens when both are switched off. Its the same noise that goes off when you open the door having left the keys in the ignition. Quote
shallishanti? Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 On the C5 this is set using the button on the end of the rh stalk and scrolling through the multifunction display. When you come to a message saying OVERSPEED a long push on the button will switch it off (I think!). If the overspeed is set you get a door open type ping and a message flashes up SPEED TOO HIGH. Rich_Eason Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 Its the same noise that goes off when you open the door having left the keys in the ignition. God that is anoying ;) Quote
Welshguy Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 God that is anoying :) Agreed :D I begin to drive off most journeys with any passengers BEGGING me to put my seatbelt on, just to turn off the nagging. Which causes me to ask...do any of you 'talk' to your C4? I tell mine to stop nagging me constantly (the general alarm), and also to go faster when I'm overtaking. The car also gets a 'well done' when it's done something well.  :P ;) Quote
hertsnminds Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 It went in to get some work done and came back with this alarm The alarm goes off when you reach 75mph and stays on at all speeds above this and you have NO message on the any display when it sounds? Sounds like you need to take it back to the place that enabled this non standard feature. IanBlack 55 VTR+ Quote
C4VTS Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 It seems your BSI unit firmware is probably corrupted. It possibly happened when the dealer last changed something? I lost my auto lighting feature when a similar thing happened to my VTS. Take it back to the dealer to fix, as the C4 should not have a speed alarm. ;) Quote
Rich_Eason Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Dont spose this is one of the million squillion functions of the masseeeeve list that KFK produced is ot? If that is the case I'm sure they can switch it off. Quote

If that is the case I'm sure they can switch it off. I think someone mentioned it was a feature on the C5. C4 does not have the controls for the driver to deal with it. Kfk would say, no point in enabling every possible feature on the C4, for reasons such as this. ;) Quote
