Scarbro Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 I've just been checking the spare wheel on my HDI VTS and noticed that the tyre size is 205/55 x 16 which is different the the tyres on the car which are 205/50 x 17. I suppose that the different aspect ratio of 55 instead of 50 means that the overall diameter is the same. Can anyone tell me that this is the normal spare wheel size for C4's with 17" wheels before I go back to the dealer for its 1k checkover. Thanks Quote
Stuey Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 yep the one you have is right mate. It is the only one that is fitted to any C4. Quote
C4VTS Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 I have the same. It's a space saver wheel/tyre and is common in most cars these days. Perfectly normal. Quote
wozza Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 not actually a space saver with a 205 profile as thats the same profile as the 17's on there now width ways. space savers are usually tiny its just a slightly smaller rim. So if a 305 profile tyre goes in there fine then a 17" alloy would probably fit in perfectly if you wanted one as a spare. Quote
ham's c4vts Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 if i remember rightly my last car a Xsara 1.6 had 195 tyres on 15" rims, but the spare was 15" with a 175 tyre. i was going to put a 195 on the spare wheel but a wheel with 195 tyre would fit into the tyre well but stuck up in the boot so you had a mound in the boot  Quote
Scarbro Posted April 12, 2007 Author Posted April 12, 2007 My Xsara 1.6 SX had the same size tyre on the spare as those on the car because I had it swapped with one of the tyres on the alloys and bought another new one for the other side. Can't do this on the C4 as its not the same size!! Quote
