Engine Conversion

got a AX debut 1ltr

but my gearbox just went :rolleyes:

im looking to uprate the engine and gearbox at the same time

obviously gt or gti would be pretty simple

even a vtr wouldnt be too much hastle

 

 

but i heard that a renault 5 GT turbo would fit in quite nicely with not too much of a problem

 

 

any idea if this is true?

not herd of that, but 1.4 85bhp ax gt engine should drop straight in without too much fuss, ive also

herd the saxo 125bhp vts or 110 xsara 1.6 16 valve should almost fit. try the ax owners club website.

an ax gt engine would be best bet as ive had 2 gt's and theyre quick, or the pug 205 xs(1.4) engine

The saxo 106 gti engine is a good one to go for. Seen a couple with them.

 

Not sure about the R5 GTT lump but if your not gonna look after them properly they do break especially if you start messing with the boost. Expensive to tune an R5 Turbo lump properly.

 

Something to consider is that whatever engine you put into the car your car will then move to that insurance group. Thats how they usually do it anyway and remember to change the V5 etc to reflect it or the car can be classes as illegal :/
