Ciaran2903 Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Hey all, just a little tale to tell..i was driving my car the other day and suddenly (literally) the clutch put up a big fight to let the gears in, i was VERY worried that i would be stranded at lights becuase i could not get into first...! Then i was pulling up to a junction, put the car into first gear with the clutch fully down...*CRUNCH* then everything was fine (again..suddenly a change... ) The problem has re-occured today..i can only just get into first..  and reverse has a lovely grinding noise each time, so much so that in public i will put the car in reverse with the engine off, then turn the car on!! Obviously i will take it into the dealer ASAP...thanks, Ciaran Quote
wozza Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Earlier the better. Although it is a fairly light car to push. Just not fun doing it in the rain at 4am. grrr. Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Must be a petrol thing or how you guys drive as my clutch is still fine on 60k Quote
wozza Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Never broke the clutch on any of my other cars just think these have weak clutches. Plus a fair few of us have needed them replaced now. Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted April 20, 2007 Author Posted April 20, 2007 Confirmation of my worries came today...Went to go to the dentist today, put the car in reverse, started the engine...big leap backwards, and the engine would not tick over...! :) Basically the clutch is completely gone, and the car is getting towed to citroen tomorrow morning...this is only the second day ever that i havent driven my C4...the first was when i was ill... Oh well...what will the warranty situation be like..i say this only as a side thought, becuase there is no way my dad will be paying for this repair either way..citroen is paying for it! :P But will he have to be "Mr. ***oops***" as he likes to call his alter-ego when getting what he wants or will it be plain sailing...personally i wouldnt mind being there to learn his little trade secret..it's never failed! thanks guys Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted April 20, 2007 Author Posted April 20, 2007 I lie...i had two knee operations and after that i couldnt drive for a couple of days... Quote
C4VTS Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Clutch replacement is usually non-warranty unless proven to be a manufacturing fault. It comes in same category as brake discs/pads. :) Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted April 20, 2007 Author Posted April 20, 2007 Sounds like this is going to get interesting then! I may as well stay at home, i will probs be able to hear him from here! I had a surprise 18th party the other week, karting followed by the pub with a bunch of my mates...great fun!The next morning the pub called my dad saying that a table umbrella had gone missing and blamed our group...they wanted him to pay for it! He said "You can get some vaseline, lube up your fucking umbrealla and sove it up your arse!" :P :) Didnt know he had it in him...guess he has his morals, i think he felt he was not given any respect...needless to say he didnt have to fork out a penny..not sure the reaction will be when i next go to the pub will be though! Quote
C4VTS Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Maybe some lubrication up the arse of Citroen might help. :) Quote
welshys90 Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 what are you talkin about?! citroen are already lubed up the ass, theyre losing out custom to everyone cause theyre afraid to bump they're road cars power up, i think i'm changing to a Clio sport the end of the year/next year Quote
wozza Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Id look at the meg R26 myself. Handle well and have a bit more oomph compared to the clios. Although both great cars. Loved my little Clio. Just the new one needs more power 197bhp just is not enough for the added weight. Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted April 21, 2007 Author Posted April 21, 2007 Well, the C4 made its way to the dealer today...Manager is going to be in touch soon..http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g262/Ciaran2903/21042007206.jpghttp://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g262/Ciaran2903/21042007205.jpg Quote

wozza Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 Join up on the other forum and pay the joining fee and the spoiler which is usually £200 can be had from a dealer for £130 delivered. It worth the £10 joining fee alone. http://www.c4owners.co.uk/plugins/content/....php?content.24 List of the discounts we have setup for the £10 fee you pay. Its done so that whatever you buy pretty much saves you the costs on the joining fee. {edit} just noticed you have already signed up. You should be able to find the phone number or email address in the members area to order them from the guy at the dealer. Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted April 22, 2007 Author Posted April 22, 2007 Done, done and done...I emailed the guy, so now i wonder what will come first..the spoiler or the car! :) Quote

wozza Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 Can pick up a brand new R26 for £14k Or a decent 182 for aorund £8k if your looking 2nd hand otherwise Clio197 and megane are roughly the same price. Just have to shop around and look at the net if the dealer wont match there prices try another one. They can be quite good on there prices. Or look at an older megane as with so many special version depreciation was rather bad. With a bit of fettling though you can make 270 - 280bhp and be able to keep up with impreza's fairly easily. And by little I mean a few hundred. Clio is a little more fun around corners but driving position etc can be a bit annoying after a while not good to stay in for long periods of time. I took mine to London once and it was awful sitting it it that long. Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted April 24, 2007 Author Posted April 24, 2007 Got my car back today!! The warrantey covered everthing, the clutch bearing was shattered...manufacturing defect..not my driving <_< The total cost to us..£0The total cost to citroen...£890!!!!!!! Good to have wheels again...
