Hi

any1 know much about changing in-car CD player??

i got a Sony CD player (CDXGT200) as a present before i even got the car

now that i brought a C3 i dunno how to change it

is it straight forward??

how do i remove the original??

i see 4 holes (1 at each corner)

do i need to stick something into all 4 holes??

think i need to buy extra adapters to get everything working??

and if so what adapters??

When my friend pulled my CD Player out as the dealer forgot to plug my aerial back in he used radio pullers which went into the holes.

there are often grub screws in the holes that have to be removed before pocking pullers into the holes!

Hi...DON'T even attempt it...if youo are unsure about the simpler bit of taking the unit OUT, then the minefield that is trying to work with citroens multiplex wiring will explode your head....honestly it's a bloody nightmare as I have found to my cost with my wifes xsara which is multiplex wiring!!! Get an expert to sort it out for you!!

im going change the head unit soon

been put off doing it myself and was lazy

and sold off the sony 1

thinking of buying a new head unit and getting it done in Halfords (even though i know it will most likely be over priced)

or get it done by a local shop

but i read from somewhere that i need to have the unit removed from citroen before i can put a new 1 in

something to do with using citroen diagnostic tools to tell the computer that the original head unit has been removed

would halfords be able to do this??

i dont want something to happen like this thread to happen

No halfords can not do this.

Dont let the monkeys in Halfords fit it. I know from what my friend said most of them have about as much training as you do in stereo installs. Which im guessing is pretty much nothing. According to my friend who worked there they have no formal training in fitting the auto systems.

And its not difficult anyway. Get adaptor if needed plug into original stereo wire then plug into new headunit. Put new cradle in bend few bits of metal back. Push headunit into new cradle until it clicks. Job done.

Honestly its not difficult to fit a headunit. It can be done inside of 10 minutes by someone without much of an idea about what there doing. And especially do not go to Halfords for audio equipment. They dont just charge a little more than charge a hell of a lot more. For instance my headunit was £280 when I bought it. WHen halfords had it on display as the flagship unit they had it up for over £700. Halfords bad. Theres a reason they get called Hellfrauds.
