Foxeye Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Hi All, I have a 55 VTR+ and generally very happy with it. So far I have had the glove box replaced and the air conditioning on the passanger side was always blowing hot all fixed under the warranty! I think it was there fault with the glove box as you have to get to the air con through the glove box and it wasn't broke when I took it in! :( At the moment I am waiting for a replacement to stop the rear brakes squealing, I had Citroen phone me up and they told me that a "fix" was going to be created at some point. Okay back to my original topic:- I can hear a tapping noise which increases and decreases with engine revs coming from in front of the driver while seated within the car. I can't hear it with the bonnet up as other engine noise covers it! :( I asked the garage to look into it while they were fixing the air con and they said something along the lines of "it's a common fault with these new models, it is the petrol balance/release valve which is mounted on the bulkhead in front of the driver causing the noise" That is a rough quote of what they said, it is the closest I can remember. It can only really be heard at traffic lights etc. as road noise etc. drowns it out when moving. Does this sound feasable to anyone? Anyone else with a VTR+ getting this noise? Cheers Quote

CheersI had exactly the same problem when I first had mine, they traced it to the cannister valve. They removed it and replaced it (the same one) and said they would find out if it was a common problem, on the way home it disappeared never to return. It's not a fault, just annoying. KFK a Citroen mechanic on here will confirm this.I hope this helps Keith Quote
Foxeye Posted May 1, 2007 Author Posted May 1, 2007 Thanks Keith, Its always good to know that the garage isn't just fobbing me off with some techno babble that I didn't understand! :( Cheers Quote
Welshguy Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Thanks Keith, Its always good to know that the garage isn't just fobbing me off with some techno babble that I didn't understand! :( Cheers Hi Foxeye, Yes this happens with mine as well, and Kfk (our resident Citroen expert) has confirmed this unit is the source of the "problem". Well...it's not really a problem, more of a "feature" ! :( Quote

C4VTS Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Just waiting, if they ever phone me, about the squealing brakes and then everything will be rosey! I have read that is not covered under warranty. Quote
Stuey Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 thats right, Citroen have stopped fixing the squeeling brakes as warranty work now as it is a manufacturing fault. You might be lucky and manage to persuade them to do it though... Quote
ham's c4vts Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 if it is a maufacturing fault it will be covered under waranty Quote
Foxeye Posted May 2, 2007 Author Posted May 2, 2007 The way the squealing brakes was described to me by Citroen goes something like this :- The garages used to remove the installed calipers and replace with Bosch make ... Citroen then realised that it was costing lots of cash to do this so have halted that procedure .... Citroen are now working on a cheap and cheerful fix instead of using Bosch. When they come out with a fix is anyones guess! So to sum it up it will be fixed under the warrant sometime in the future! :( Quote
C4VTS Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 The garages used to remove the installed calipers and replace with Bosch make I can see that my rear brake pads are Bosch branded. My car is ex-demo Citroen owned.Have not had any problems with the brakes, so I guess the work was done before I got it last year. Quote
Stuey Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 if it is a maufacturing fault it will be covered under waranty it is not Citroen parts that are at fault I think is there reasoning for not fixing it. Quote
Foxeye Posted June 22, 2007 Author Posted June 22, 2007 it is not Citroen parts that are at fault I think is there reasoning for not fixing it. Just had a phone call from Citroen Head Office ..... They are going to replace the squealing brakes under the warranty!!! :) Quote
iannez Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 other way round. if the rear callipers were bosh they replaced with trw ones and as someone has already said they have now stoped doing them under warrenty. c2's had the same fault but just replaced the calliper bracket with a stronger one. cant do this with c4's as the bracket is part of the calliper.
