C4VTS Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 The offside rear end of my car makes lots of loud creaking noises after being parked in warm weather at work all day. The noise goes away after going round a few bends after 5 minutes. I would guess it's the rear shock absorbers rather than the rear parcel shelf. Anyone else had this? Quote
Smurf Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 The offside rear end of my car makes lots of loud creaking noises after being parked in warm weather at work all day. The noise goes away after going round a few bends after 5 minutes. I would guess it's the rear shock absorbers rather than the rear parcel shelf. Anyone else had this? I had my rear shocks on my C4 coupe changed about 6 months from new. The shocks would make a sort of groaning noise when moving forward slowly and also when reversing. The mechanic isolated the problem within a few seconds of opening the boot and pushing down on the car a few times. Made me think it was a common issue. Not sure if related but if you've not had yours changed I would get them looked at. Quote
Fuzzyone Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Mine goes in next Tuesday to have this problem fixed (among others :(), mine is down to the exhaust heat shield, only makes that noise when the car is lurching Quote
Stuey Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 @ Fuzzyone, is the noise like a knocking noise just as your clutch comes to biting point?? there are a couple of us who have this noise and nobody seems to be able to ffind it... Quote

Welshguy Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 well mate, let us know as me and Welshguy have this noise and the dealers our cars have been to are stumped!! Stuey...you've probably read I had my service a couple of days ago - I asked them to look into the knocking noise again and they did...couldn't find anything seriously wrong but they did (finally!) hear the knocking sound. They noted that the gear cables were again against the bodyshop so fitted spacers..and so far so good. I can still hear the sound a small amount but miles better than before. Quote
Fuzzyone Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 The part they are due to change is the Exhaust Cone, hoever it was not fitted today for some unknown reason and has to go back. http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citro...?showtopic=3393 ;) Quote
hertsnminds Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Was washing the car today and when I put pressure on the rear spoiler (5 door) I noticed some creaking. I think the creaking I get from my car is due to the rear spoiler expanding in hot weather. IanBlack 55 VTR+ Quote
C4VTS Posted July 29, 2007 Author Posted July 29, 2007 Still not had mine looked at yet. Have been waiting for a warmer spell of weather, so can prove the fault to the dealer. It does creak a lot on the offside rear in warmer weather. Quote
jimbobfruitbat Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 Had my C4 Coupe for 8 months now, the rear spoiler creaks when going over bumps in the road. Had a look at it and it seems that it has come a bit loose, apparently it seems that it touches the rear light cluster a bit on the driver side. I seem to remember reading that this is common.Hopefully the dealer can fix this under warranty when it goes in for the 12000 mile service next week. Quote
Guest jamesc4 Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 i have got the vtr+ coupe its 2 months old and i have this problem already. its when i pull away and change gear, but only for a bit after it has been parked up. going to see if they can fix it next week its only done 3000 miles. Quote
