Speedo Not Working

I have a 1997 Xantia 1.8 the speedo does not work at all. Could this be the electrical sensor?. Has someone disconnected something to stop mileage increasing. Any answers appreciated.

I had the same problem with my xantia 2001

you need to replace the speed sensor located no the lower part of the gearbox

the car must be reised to be able to do the job

Very well may be the sensor as mentioned above - only other thing it could be is if a previous owner has disconnected this to stop mileage accruing. This will be obvious as wiring loom will be disconnected off the gearbox sensor..... check this before you buy a sensor assy!
